  1. ~Hi folks

Well my Viktorias aren't going to be finished by tomorrow nights demo. I still have my 2nd Viktoria to paint but my eyes are just too tired to paint tonight so I'll only have 5 out of my 6 models done. Instead I wanted to show you folks what I'd done so I setup the light box (which I'm still learning how to use properly) and I took some pics for you to enjoy.

Any comments would be gratefully received, I reckon I'll have to spend a night or so tidying up the mistakes I've noticed but I'm still on track for my Adepticon deadline

    Enjoy...................

  2. ~Hi Folks

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the links and then give it a bash tomorrow night, it will take me the rest of the night to finish my last Ronin. Then I'll just have one night to do my Viktoria. Looks like it'll be another 2 late nights for me, lets just hope I'm not too tired to go to the demo on Thursday night

  3. ~Hi folks

I'm really trying to get my crew fully painted for a Malifaux demo at my FLGS. I have one Ronin left to finish and one of my Viktorias to be completely done. My main problem is I'm struggling to get the blonde hair for my Viktoria done correctly. I have the full range of GW paints, does anyone have any good hints and tips for painting blonde hair

    Thanks in advance

    Erik

  4. ~Hi folks

Just a quick update tonight and I apologise is advance for the rubbish quality pic tonight but I'm a bit too tired to set up my light tent so this pic will just have to do for now.

My wife has spent the evening making a doll for a friend who has been ill recently so I thought I'd take the opportunity to press on with my painting. I've really been looking forward to painting Taelor so I thought I'd paint her next.

    Here is the result

As always any comments would be gratefully appreciated, I'm hopefully gonna get the next Ronin done tomorrow and if I work really hard then I might even get the second Viktoria painted on Wednesday. This would mean I would have a fully painted crew in time for a demo that's running at my FLGS on Thursday and also well in time for my Adepticon deadline (I may even get my Pandoras done before then)

Still really enjoying painting and can't wait until I have a fully painted crew to field. After 20+ years of gaming I've never played with a fully painted army and even though its only 6 models in this army I'd still be really pleased

Off for a well deserved rest.........................

  5. They've been a labor of love

You can tell that, they are beautiful. I really think that they stand out well on the Wyrd bases. I have always found yellow almost impossible to paint but you've really nailed it there (any hints or tips you could offer would be gratefully received).

Well done and I can't wait to see more..................

  6. Nice work mate, really like the eyes and the skin tone. What plans do you have for the bases? (hope the back gets better, I was planning to paint tomorrow but looks like the wife has furniture for me to build.............)

  7. Cant wait to try this on my guild...

To expand, can anyone share colour recipes for the brown leather overcoats?

    ~Hi

I usually use a basecoat of scorched brown, highlighted with bestial brown and finally given a drybrush of snakebite leather. You can then add extreme highlights with either straight bleached bone or a mixture of bleached bone and snakebite leather

    Hope this helps

  8. ~Hi

Maybe painted minis do play better...................Managed to squeeze out a draw against a Von Schill crew last night, even after making a serious mistake and getting one of my Viktorias killed early on.

Heres a shot from the game - (sorry about the bad quality it was taking from my blackberry)

    game_040311.jpg

Playing about with my lightbox I've taken a group shot of the minis I've painted so far. 2 more Ronin to do and my second Viktoria as well and 19 days of painting before my Adepticon deadline. Should be ok. I'll crack on and get the other 3 painted and then I'll go back over all 6 tidying up the little things I'm not happy with (I'm a perfectionist). Then spray varnish and I'm done. Speaking of varnish. Does anyone have any recommendations, I'm thinking Testors Dullcote if I can get hold of it

  9. If someone would pay for me to move to California and find me work I'd happily play with you guys. I would love to live in California, so much nicer than Scotland. Had my best holiday ever there..........Stayed in Fremont for 2 weeks with friends and visited San Francisco, Oakland, Napa, Carmel and Monterey Bay. Even bought my limited edition Ipod Nano from the Apple store in Palo Alto. (aaawwww great memories)

  10. I think this is an amazing community and I'm really pleased to be a part of it, everyone is so friendly and helpful and its a refreshing change from some of the gaming forums I used to visit. I think that this achievement is in no small part down to Eric and Nathan's enthusiasm for the game, how many other manufacturers forums do the creators post in welcome threads.

You guys rock. I'll never get fed up of telling people how great this community is....................

  11. ~Hi

Managed to get a bit of painting done tonight as I always like to have done something between game sessions and I have another game scheduled for tomorrow night. Its still very much a WIP and needs a lot of work but I'm quite chuffed as to how the denim has come out as I normally paint from the pictures on the Wyrd website and this is the first time I've really gone off plan to create something of my own.

Anyway hope you enjoy the pic, I'm sure now I've started painting her she'll play better than she did last week when she was just bare metal

Still really enjoying painting my crew, long may it continue

  12. ~Hi

Thanks for all the helpful comments. I did a bit of messing around tonight and came up with something I'm quite happy with. The model is still very much a WIP but for the denim I went with an Enchanted Blue basecoat and a wash of Asurmen Blue. I then mixed up a 50/50 mix of Enchanted Blue and Astronomican Grey and highlighted using that, finally a very light drybrush of Astonomican Grey and I was done.

Here is what I ended up with

  13. Excellent Colette crew. (me wants one now) The Colette model is especially good but I must try to paint all the models I have before buying anything new.

The colours are really vibrant and the Wryd bases really make them stand out. Well done
