  1. Hi All,

I very nearly forgot to let you guys on this forum know, but I'm having a bit of a prize giveaway on my Blog as I've reached my first birthday:

    http://thefrontlinegamer.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/happy-birthday-frontline-gamer.html

Any way I know a few of you on here read the Blog already, but one of you kindly reminded me that all of you would quite like to win £40's worth of Sarissa Precision scenery of your choice. When my Blog gets to 550 followers I'll put a simple prize draw up. I'm currently running prize draws for some other things, but I figured given it's not Malifaux related it'd be highly cheeky to post that here.

Any way if you do decide to enter... good look!!! :)

    Cheers

    Frontline Gamer

  2. The jail and train station are on me list (who wouldn't want to have a train on tracks that you can actually move as the game progresses??:)) the stables doesn't do it for me though.

Besides, I've got enough buildings for 3 boards as it is!

I just hope they don't start making battlefield accessories like gallows, wells, horse troughs, water-towers.........;)

Sorry to inform you, but they're already working on a water tower as I type... they might also be working on some other bits and bobs! Not that I'll be complaining, my bank manager might though!

  3. Hi Guys, the Sarissa Precision Church review is now live on my blog:

    http://thefrontlinegamer.blogspot.com/2011/10/review-sarissa-precision-oldwest-church.html

I had some peeps accuse me of spamming the site for mt blog, so here's a quick breakdown of the scores I've given to it plus my summing up, so you don't need to follow the link to the blog if you don't want to.

    Usefulness 9 out of 10

    Character 9 out of 10

    Detail 8 out of 10

    Quality 7.5 out of 10

    Service 8 out of 10

    Overall 8.5 out of 10

For shear Wild West quality, and vibe, I'm not too sure the Jailhouse will be beaten. However, as a gaming piece, and as a piece of scenery the Church / School House is an all round better building. It's size and shape make it more useful at blocking lines of sight, and the two entrances mean it'll be a good building to fight over. When glued together it forms a very sturdy building that will take some serious gaming punishment. Also, as another characterful centerpiece to fight over, what's cooler than a shoot out in a church? Yeah, that's right, not much! I'm really glad I have this piece to put on my gaming table. Peace out!

  4. Id you can post links to the Church and Hotel here when you have the reviews done that would be awesome. I am also very impressed with the jailhouse. I must stop spending money on Forge World and make a order with Sarissa, lol.

When those reviews are done you'll be the first to know!!! :D

  5. Hi all,

I'm not too sure whether this stuff has been posted on these pages before, but I'm pretty sure it must have been:

    http://www.sarissa-precision.co.uk/store/oldwesthr/

However a few of the Malifaux gamers who read my blog have asked me to do some reviews of their scenery, so I've gone and brought a few piece, and my first two reviews are up on my blog now if anyone is interested:

    http://thefrontlinegamer.blogspot.com/2011/10/review-sarissa-precision-oldwest.html

    http://thefrontlinegamer.blogspot.com/2011/10/review-sarissa-precision-oldwest-shack.html

I actually think for the price they're not at all bad. The scale is close enough too as well. I'll also be reviewing the Hotel and the Church at some point this week and if people here show an interest I'll post the links here too. Thanks biggrin.gif

    SORRY!!!

Didn't realise there was already a thread on this stuff!!! I did look, honest I did. ;) Any way there are some pics in the reviews you guys might find handy. If you would like any further pics of close up shots of certain components or stuff, let me know in the comments section and I'll get onto it for you. Cheers.

  6. @Lonely Path. Pleasure. If you want any specific shots of any of the pieces just ask and I'll add pics to the bottom of the reviews. I've done so for the guys over at the official Dystopian Wars forums before. I'm currently working up a review of the church and the Hotel. The guys at Sarissa have said they'll send me pics of some of their new stuff before its released. They're doing a Livery stable and a full Wild West train station. Also the Jailhouse is brilliant.

  8. Ooops didn't know that, didn't mean to open old wounds. My blog isn't about specific game systems but more about the theory of game balance, rather than specific whether certain things are balanced within games. For what its worth I actually think Malifaux is really balanced system BUT it has a steep learning curve and those that have passed through that stage will appear way better than us mere mortals starting out, but that's not imbalance.

  9. Hi all I've just posted an article on my blog regarding the thorny issue of game balance. That's game balance in general as opposed to game balance in Malifaux, although it does get a mention in part 4 of the article for doing some things right ;) .

I think Malifaux is a very different sort of game to many others out there and I'd actually really appreciate some of your opinions on the subject and your take on things:

    http://thefrontlinegamer.blogspot.com/2011/08/can-any-game-system-ever-truly-be.html?showComment=1312805187359#c1621688212966943592

I do play Malifaux but alas for me its just one of many games I play and so I don't think I can speak with any real authority on the topic. Love the game to bits though and it has provided me with some of my most entertaining gaming moments of recent months. Thanks. :)

  10. @Tarragon yeah possibly, dedend if I go or not with my mates. We're still unsure as the last few have events we've been to have been a bit meh. I'll ask this weekend if peeps plan on going.

  11. Cool! When I pick up my Pandora box, I'll try to arrange something.

I'm technically in South Staffordshire, but I can make the journey no problem.

Awesomesauce quite a few of the gamers I play with live in Walsall which is probably easier and luckily they too all have gaming rooms... its a regular geek fest round here!! Follwed the link and realised I'd read the Blog before, its good!!! Plus if you're desperate to play games I have a shed load of gangs and my mates do too so I'm sure we could loan you one or two for a few games.

  12. Welcome! I'm also new on here. And I'm also from the West Midlands! (When I get models, we could have a game :P)

I'm also a blog writer as well! Gosh, we have a lot in common. http://miniaturewargameconversions.blogspot.com/ It's not really my own blog, but I write for it, so meh. *PLUG OVER*

I hope you enjoy looking around here. I am!

Hell yeah I'm definitely up for any games I can get atm... I live in south B'ham, Acocks Green to be precise. I have an 8' by 4' board. All gamers welcome!!! Having an Infinity day on Bank Holiday Monday, might do a write up on that... but only if I win the games. lol.

  13. Great blog dude, I shared it.

    Regards,

    TV

Thanks, I tried real hard!!! :) If there's stuff anyone would like specifically I'll give it a bash. The Infinity forum wants me to write up reviews of some resin bases (well some peeps PM'ed me lol) I'll be doing some WIP painting guides. Although I hate doing things like that because I'm really not that great a painter!!!

  14. @Malcontent alas yes WFB has passed out of my gaming habits. Shame, but not a major problem, this past year I've been playing a hell of a lot of Warmachine / Hordes and even more Infinity (love that game) and I'm re-discovering my love for smaller skirmish games like Malifaux!!! I've been playing Malifaux on and off since launch but not really had the peeps around me to play games with, but now more people are rage quitting 40k and WFB I've had an influx of plenty of opponents so its all good.

@TheOneWhoFell perhaps my brief overview of Malifaux my help with new starters, its kinda the arguments I've used to convince peeps. I'll be doing a Malifaux from a starters perspective at somepoint next week I think if I get a chance to do the write up of some games with some new starters!!! Maybe their thoughts will help you convince some peeps!!!

  15. Hello peeps,

I've been a long time lurker on this forum, especially the painting part of the forum. I've never really felt the need to post as I wasn't really playing enough Malifaux to make positive contributions to discussions.

However I've now got more Malifaux opponents now so I'll be stepping up my Malifaux gaming!!! Yay. I live in the UK in the West Midlands and today I did a brief overview of what I think of Malifaux on my Blog, I'd really appreciate it if some of you guys would take a look at it and let me know your thoughts:

    http://thefrontlinegamer.blogspot.com/2011/05/things-that-i-play-malifaux.html

Also what sorts of Malifaux content would peeps like to see on a Blog? Any way I'm hoping to be a more regular contributor on these pages.
