Nicodem, as well as all the other Dead Man's Hand models have all returned to their respective factions as their stat cards now list their faction with DMH.

    OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

I completely missed that. Been testing them separately for months.

  2. First off, Versatile on Resser models doesn't matter because Nicodem is NOT a Resser model. He's a Dead Man's Hand model. As such, he cannot hire anything from the Resser faction that does not have Mortuary or Zombie.
Second, I think you hit the nail on the head: Zombie allows Nicodem to hire the model, which he normally wouldn't be able to (see above), AND allows Asura Roten to hire them so long as she is your crew's leader.
Perhaps the dev team does not want Asura to be hirable for Nicodem?  Just a guess.

  3. Another issue is that neverborn masters are very potent on their own right out of the box, while resser masters are much more support-based in their application. Also resser crew boxes, while very thematic, are usually kinda bad.  Take McMourning for instance. You almost never want to take more than one nurse and flesh constructs are more for summoning off his Abra Cadaver trigger. The box itself doesn't have a great way to stack poison on enemy models either, as this is often done on a friendly model and then transferred over via the Transfusion upgrade. McMourning's def stats are also fairly shit against your high neverborn attack stats.

I'm not complaining as McMourning is my favorite master, just pointing out that this could just be the case of you're playing low stone games and it's a fairly one sided matchup because of this. Advise your friend to use this period to really learn his models and how they build on each other's strengths so that when he gets more pieces of the puzzle onto the table it'll all fall into place. And get those Transfusion upgrades! They change McMourning's whole game!

  4. I always hire Mortimer with Corpse Bloat for the "free" corpse every turn.  I used to bring My Favorite Shovel but for only 1 Ca AP I decided it's not worth the points.  I use the vulture to drag that corpse into the center (I usually play Nico into board-centric strats like Interference or Guard the Stash).  If my opponent kills the bird, then that puts two corpse markers near the center of the board which I usually turn into Punks if I can flurry on something or Hanged if I have that magical 13 just to get it out of the way.  I then look at enforcers and minions that I cannot summon, like Nurses.  I really like Phillip on scheme marker heavy pools as he can turn them into corpses, and then into cards if I need them.  Always consider models that Nic cannot summon first, before looking at hiring models he can summon.  I've never been sorry that I didn't hire a rotten belle (summon one, yes but never that I didn't hire one) but I've lamented not hiring a nurse or Chiaki many times.

  5. If your opponent bunches up, she can shoot at one of them and either cheat or stone for a crow and make your opponent drain their hand trying to pass a bunch of horror duels.  That's something I just really discovered today.  She may not sucessfully paralyze anything, but she can empty your opponent's hand quite quickly.

  6. If you have access to the models, I would replace one of the belles with a dead doxie and go with 4 stones.  You could also (again, if you can get the model or a good proxy) use Jaakuna Ubume.  She has a weaker lure (Ca 6) but her melee attacks target Wp.  It only does one point of damage but it gives out slow on a crow.  What you're really bringing her for is the fact she creates a 3" aura of hazardous terrain that you can lure people into for free damage.  She's also Manipulative, which IMO is better than Terror because you don't become immune to it by succeeding.  She's a little slow with a Wk 4 but she's incorporeal so terrain isn't an issue.  She has (for ressers) a good ranged attack with a 2/3/4B damage spread with a mask trigger to keep the target from charging, but only at Ca4.  She also has Denial of Sanzu for a 0 action which keeps models from declaring walk actions.  She's an area denial model, not really an attacker, but with Seamus possibly giving things -2 Wp and Yin giving something a neg twist to Wp duels, she can be quite devastating.

  7. I have a couple of the metal Night Terrors, and I've played them in a few games in the past and once my opponent and I both realized they were insignificant, we were both having difficulty figuring out why you would ever bring them,  or even summon them for that matter.  Does anyone have any experience in the matter of fielding these guys?  Right now they're in my spare models box so as not to take up room in my Ressers bag.  Thanks in advance for any insight you might bring to these woefully unplayed models.

  8. So I want to discuss Hardcore (or Henchman Hardcore as it is sometimes called). I want to get peoples' opinions on which henchman you would take in this format and why. For those that don't know, Hardcore is 20 points (so a henchman must be your leader, and is free), four models (no more, no less) and every last point must be spent so your soulstones in game is limited by your henchman's cache, Close Deployment, Turf War, and the only scheme is Assassinate. The match is limited at 30 minutes to try to force you to play fast.

I was thinking about it and I think I'd like to try the Valedictorian in Hardcore. She's harder to kill with Hard to Wound 1 and Armor 1. She hits like a ton of bricks with her primary attack, and she can deny triggers. I'm not sure any of our other henchmen can really withstand any kind of punishment for a hardcore game, where often times you're making charge attacks Turn 1.

Not too terribly deep or anything, I just thought I would get the ball rolling and get some discussion going. I'd love to hear your thoughts on which henchman you would play in a Hardcore game and why, or even why my idea is complete garbage. I'm thick-skinned, I can take it. Discuss!

  9. So, I saw a statement in another thread that went something like this:  "X model may be good with Yan Lo, but why would I play Yan Lo?"  I'm not trying to call anyone out, but I've seen statements similar to this in other threads and I'm wondering what the mentality is behind it.  Is it because he just doesn't fit the Resser "theme" of summoning?  Is he legitimately bad?  I really like the look of the models in his box and I like his background story.  So is he bad or just different?
