  1. True but some more rigorous data or even a glimpse into how the game is performing compared to other titles is useful as well.

Polls like this are a double-edged blade. Its good promotion but if people aren't confident of the data then they can dismiss it as well.

Its a good thing you're already playing the game then isn't it?

  2. I have no idea what their methodology is. I don't think they have ever reported it and detailed how they come to these lists.

Like Oscar Wilde said, "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." No matter the fallaciousness of their research demographic, Malifaux is there on a top tier list alongside Privateer Press and Games Workshop, which translates into free advertisement.

  3. Unpainted Seamus! Otherwise, that Hoffman crew looks freaking amazing, I'd give it a rap on the knuckles for bringing Nino, but since it was a "hardcore" game I'll leave it be. This only reinforces my drive to finish my 3' x 3' M&SU city block for local tournaments that might happen around about my parts.

Congrats to the winner and congrats to you for running what appears to have been a great time.

  4. Actually, GW raising prices at random again seems to have pushed a lot of people locally into looking into other game systems (me in particular). Granted, I'm wishing I had looked into Malifaux more seriously before now that I'm in, but that seems to have been the big tipping point for a lot of folks. That and the ridiculously low buy-in, we've got five people with starter sets of their own and I just did the first demo last week.

    That's excellent news.

  5. Holt has arrived! Now I just have to wait for the hat and guns. In the meantime I'm going to find myself a file and get to work on that overcoat. Privateer Press must have the understanding that the entire world is cold as Scrooge's London-I'm still getting over how much of the coat I'll need to score off.

  6. Actually, I run a Monday afternoon game at my local hobby store using Savage Worlds/Deadlands. The players seem to be enjoying themselves. Personally, I'd rather use GURPS, but seems I'm the only one locally that's the least bit interested in the system.

  7. In going with what Drake said, Hoffman is indeed meant to be played as a part of a machine. A very important part of a machine you build with Guild and filthy rabble Constructs. You accomplish Strategies and Schemes by working your crew like some kind of steampunk Voltron. The Lion one, not the dipshit car one.

    Hell yeah!

  8. I've got a Master Holt arriving in the mail soon, and I'm aspiring to kit the hell out of him for use as a Gunsmith. Anyway, I've got a plan for converting him, the question is, after the conversion process will he be bonified legal? Let me fill you in and you can tell me what you think.

Along with Master Holt, I've got two kits of Malifaux hats and guns coming my way. Holt's cuffs are hu-freaking-mongous, so I'm going to replace his forearms (separate bits to boot anyway), and find some other forearms and fit them with a peacebringer each. Then I'll scrape, cut, sand, pick the collar, belt and bottom of his overcoat off and then replace them with green stuff to give him a slimmer old western approach, leaving his boots, and the chest area of the figure as is. Lastly, I'm going to green stuff a beard for old Holt and fit him with a Malifaux bowler hat.

So, what do you fellas think about that?
