Fraction of an inch won and lost many a WM/Hordes game.

Also, best and worst here have more than one meaning, to learn the rules, in a matter of competition, in how self-contained they are, etc.
-
The original question was more in-between, not just who works fine out of the box (or rather, can make use of all of its abilities, then a complete use), but to know what you need to get for whom, not just "How to expand the starter set", but "What do I need to make full use..."

I can't help but think that a wiki for this game could have all these things in charts, and it'd be easier to handle than stickies, for getting one's legs under one-self. Would also help with seeing who all the beasts are, all the constructs, etc. for masters that care for such.

Any ETA on the PDF? Will make demoing the game much easier
Cause yeah, PDF same as street-date of book, when book is in the warehouse, sent to printers...?

Yes, the question is more about needs, less about "Get these for the optimal build".
And yeah, I agree Eric, but I feel the "First purchase, or two" has more information already on the boards.

So, some boxes come unrecommended (for demoes and such), not because they're tough to handle, but because their masters really need some extra models to work properly (totems, summoned, etc.).
Some boxes come with models you don't need till later (twin nurses).
And some boxes just work better if you have some other models instead (mature nephilim > young nephilim).
So here's the question. For each caster in the game, what models do you NEED that don't come in the box? And it's ok to say for some masters "None"
Cheers.

That's great to hear as someone just getting into the game

Weird; I heard Lilith is a good Master to use in beginner games.
Well, Seamus, Justice and Rasputina will be how I begin, and after I get some games under my belt, provided I'll still have who to play with, I'll slowly pick up the Neverborne.

BTW, what's the spiel on the Dreamer? Seems complicated. I very much like Baby Kade and Candy, but I saw that the Pandora starter comes with big warnings for beginning players?

I thought I'd post here, being the most fitting thread.
I am looking to begin playing the game, and want to pick up 2-3 starters, who'd be ran one against the other.
None of us have played Malifaux before, but we're all seasoned strategy gamers: MtG, Warmachine, etc.
So we need things to let us grok the game, but also with more room to grow. Self contained starters that do not demand additional purchases, are also desired.
Cheers!

Not for the holidays, due to wrong religion and all that, but I just received my Seamus starter, Lilith starter, puppet deck, and their two totems
Now just need to convert someone to play this with me.
