  1. The only problem there is it only makes sense if she's A)going against graverobbers, so models drop corpse counters , or if it B) counts even if models would not normally drop counters.

    lol...

    yeah...

In my universe, there are always corpses because I always have graverobbers. :)

  2. Ive been looking at all the current schemes and looking at ways to rebalance them more like the 3 I suggested before where they can be done in 'stages'. How do these sound as a few other ideas;

    My Little Friend (Seamus only)

You earn 1vp if a friendly Seamus kills an enemy model, while it is fleeing, with his .50 Flintlock. You score +1vp if this scheme is announced.

Lay These Souls To Rest (Lady Justice only)

If Lady Justice has killed 3 enemy models by the end of the encounter, you score 1vp. You score +1vp if you announce this scheme.

How would you define fleeing so that its not debatable?

For the LadyJ one, I like where you were going with the name, so I wonder if it doesn't thematically make sense that she must "Final Repose" 3 enemies that would normally have dropped corpses when they died?

  3. Its all about the fact that Rafkin gets body parts from corpses being discarded OR sacrificed.

So, he activates first, kills a BUNCH of dogs(As many as you want), with his poison blasts.

Then uses his action that lets him collect body parts.

Then when Nicodem activates, he casts Arise to make a bunch of Mindless Zombies. (They still count as corpse counters and Rafkin gets body parts)

Then he casts reanimator and summons something like a Rogue Necro that sacs 4 more corpse counters. (And Rafkin gets MORE body parts)

So, if you started with 4 Dogs, rafkin will get 8 body parts when its all said and Done.

If you have more dogs and Nico has the cards for multiple Reanimator castings, you can get more than 8...

Then next turn, IF YOU HAVE THE CARDS, Rafkin can generate more Mindless zombies that Nico can use.

It is super slow and very situational.

Something like Claim Jump maybe? And pray they do not take Kidnap?

Its fun to talk about the math, but you may not wind up doing it much... But, YMMV.

  4. What constitutes a strike HAS been ruled on.

There is not really any debate on this aside from the OP wanting to sort of redefine the "duration of a strike" in some way, a la Magic: The Gathering, like pretending that the attack and response are somehow on a stack and that somehow that "outer action" that is "wrapping" things therefore makes everything contained within it a "Strike" and therefore you get to apply all sorts of words from the "outer" action to things inside as if Riposte was some sort of "redirection" of the initial attack even though the very definition of the word "Riposte" is a counter-attack after a parried attack...

Couple that with the unwillingness of the OP to accept that Malifaux DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT and that 100 people have said so...

And this just becomes yet another in a long litany of threads where someone asks a question. 50 people answer and are not accepted because they do not have the hat.

Then everyone that was originally trying to be helpful starts getting a little irritated because their help is thrown back in their face and devalued. And when we are in periods of time, like now, where Rules Marshalls are busy elsewhere or simply not replying for their own reasons, little cancer-bud threads like this continue to linger and irritate....

  5. 1. Player Choices. (Good or Bad)

    2. Scheme/Strategy planning and execution. (good or bad)

    3. Luck related events. (Jokers, initiative, etc.)

I have always been a big critic of Red Joker damage. I do not like that in an otherwise even contest that one flip could so suddenly have such a dramatic effect.

    BUT...

The frequency and magnitude of the fallout pales in comparison to terrible player decision making and outright ignoring of what gives people VP in more games than anything related to jokers.

    Just an opinion...

  6. But we can agree that the ruling is that Riposte is not a Strike, yes?

And if so, with the healing flip clearly calling for a Strike from the Dadao, we can agree that it fails to meet that condition?

I guess I am wondering which bit you feel needs further elaboration from a rules Marshall.

To restate that Riposte is not a Strike? Or to restate that the wording for the healing flip requires a Strike?

Forget about Onslaught... The relevant part of the link I provided is the description, by a rules marshall, of what Riposte is, or in this particular case, is NOT. (see: strike)

  7. And, as an aside, the person saying the quote was Karn, who was a Rules Marshall then. As was Wierd Sketch who replied later in the thread that Karn was right and then, of course, there was Mr. Awesome... Keltheos in the same thread.

"as if she had hit with her greatsword"

Retroactive application makes the game state treat it as if it actually were a Strike made with the Dadao.

Would you have Izamu take 1 from Black Blood off of Riposte, too (assuming he were in range)?

    ~Lil Kalki

Black Blood says when you are hit with a "Melee Strike", so no, I would not give Izamu damage since the Riposte is not a strike.

    Enjoy yourself! :) (Go Rezzers!)

  8. Never taken Shikome with Yan Lo... Could be fun.

I don't know that there is ANY model I would take with Yan Lo "instead of" Izamu, but at some point I intend to try almost everything with him "in addition to" Izamu. :)

For recycling Yan Lo, I prefer control over his death to ensure that I get his card, so when he is low, if I am worried about any sort of shenanigans, I companion Yan, Soul Porter AND Izamu.

Izamu goes first, gets his activation... hopefully kills some stuff. Then Soul Porter kills him then Yan Lo brings him back.

With the companion chain, I do not have to worry about something mucking about between my activations.

  9. I love dogs with him.

They are such good values for the SS and you can get a lot of them. As they die and he just keeps gathering Chi, eventually going Super-Saiyan on everyone.

    Dogs... Yummm....

I have not done it yet, but at some point, I want to get a field of Necropunks with him too. Almost as much Chi when they die (3SS models vs. 2SS models), but they are actually very hard and can shred things pretty quick in packs.

A mix of both would be cool, too.

  10. I don't want raisins or coconut in maliaux 2.0 really hate both and am allergic to one of them.

So... If I KILL someone at the Cake match, do I AUTO-WIN?

Regarding Symbols... What I LIKE about not having the text on the cards is that changes can be universally made in one other place and the cards simply stay "up to date". (Mind you, I am now equating symbols not only with an icon, but more importantly with not having the description of the ability on the card. In terms of simply having a symbol vs. having a NAME... I do not care and think a name works ok in how cards have been laid out to this point)

What I DISLIKE about not having text on the cards is that until I know the symbols, I need a seperate reference to remind me of what they mean.

To me, its simply a question of which of those is a larger problem, or conversely, which helps me more.

I answer the question for myself like this. I have been playing for more than two years. Therefore, I believe that I am capable of knowing what the symbols mean after that long an exposure, so would rather have it more streamlined and easy to errata abilities as necessary.

I could understand where it would be hard for people that seldom play or are very knew though.

  11. Clippy? DOn't know a ribbon thing, but I do not really use Word much.

I think a lot of reaction was more to your "absolute" of quitting Malifaux if there were ever symbols without knowing anything about how it could be done.

This is not intended as an insult, just an analogy. My wife can cook a vegetable dish and tell my son that he is having onions and Broccoli and spinach for dinner and he will basically say that he would rather starve than eat because he hates vegetables.

Then he is forced to try the dish and likes it.

Without knowing anything other than someone saying symbols, you had my son's "vegetable" reaction from when he was about 6 years old.

I hope you can understand why some people might respond as they did.

You clearly do not like what you have seen to this point in other games in how symbols were used or made. That's cool. You don't have to.
