The Dreamer.
I love the mechanics, I love the fluff, I love the models.
-
Considering you're offering him to use your deck during the encounter, I don't see the problem with prohibiting it. Asking him would be better than just straight prohibiting him though, and make it clear that it's really so that the tournament can happen at a faster pace, and to make it easier on everyone. Don't talk about cheating though, that might be insulting.
I don't see the problem with prohibiting non-standard Malifaux decks in tournaments, mainly when you're offering decks for those that don't have the right cards.
-
I also greatly dislike them. I'm never able to read the suit and have a hard time reading the number. As a reslt I have to ask my opponent what he flipped all the time, even though it's right in front of me.
For me the base deck has a much better design for its purpose, with clear contrast where it's needed. Plus they are color coded depending on the suit, don't need to look for the suit symbol.
-
I usually like lots of models better, I always find myself needing those boots for VP.
That's why I tend to go with Lelu and Lilitu a lot. They're like one big Nightmare together, except they're 2 models for VP purposes. Plus I love isolating enemy models one by one with Lilitu and sending all my Nightmares to eat them in a secure position.

The change to Does Not Die did not change the usefulness (broken qualities) of Stitched Together. Of the several games I have played against that list Teddy has been a none issue and the damage that has been done has always been the Stitched using gamble for your life and then Lord Chompy Bits. I really think that their Gamble for your Life really needs to be changed to a 0 action, or take away reactivate from Does Not Die, that would put them closer to their 5 ss cost.
Personally I have used Coppelius in a few lists and I just cannot get him to be that effective, not for the amount of soul stones he cost. There are too many models out there for that price range I would rather take for competitive play.
I also disagree. After all Gamble you life is a double edged sword. I personally end up hurting myself as often as I end up hurting the enemy, effectively killing my stiched together on my own... I must be doing something wrong. And at least I get reactivate (if I didn't I wouldn't try Gamble your life much, if at all).
mythicFOX: I always do my first turn activating abilities like creepy fog, smell fear, disturbing whispers, etc and burrying my models. But I actually never thought of using the defensive stance, it's a great idea! I actually have never seen defensive stance used yet.
-
I usually stick to a faction, but not because of the tournament rules.
A lot of models can be interchanged between masters within a faction, thus I save money not having to get a whole crew each time I want to try a new master.
Of course, enjoying the faction's fluff helps a lot too.

I have to agree with mythicFOX here, the font puts me off.
It might look pretty, put it makes the reading harder, and considering the quantity of text, most people won't bother.
-
more new from book two:
the Malifaux Raptor: a 2 soulstone model. Very fast, he can place cards from the enemy's discard pile back to the top of the deck, as well as make other enemy models gain the beast characteristic (which can combo with some of marcus' stuff).
He is insignificant, so no objectives for him, but loses that characteristic if there 2 or more raptors within 3" of him (At which point you are looking at 6 soulstones minimum).
Night Terror: 3 soulstone model. One of his spells is a bubble that gives -4 range to models (considering the lack of range of the beasts, I can really see the benefits of that).
Haven't tried the new beasts much though. He was my first master, and he is though to start with. I'd say the new book added a lot of new toys for Marcus that I still need to play with. I also really enjoy the fluff and the beasts models.
In the first book, the silurids were your best bet, and I also really enjoyed the cerberus and the jackalope (the totem is awesome, it looks great and keeps coming back when it dies).
In the new book, I'm really excited about the shikome iwth Single Minded and Hunting Partner. The Malifaux Raptors could be great to grab objectives (8" wk!) as long as you have a pack.
Dreamer vs. Perdita Crew???

I really like the list Karn gave. I think the combo Lelu/Lilitu + Stich together should do wonders against Perdita.
Don't forget to activate your creepy fog on stiched togethers before burrying them on first turn, so you can block line of sight right where you need it at the beginning of second turn.
Creepy Fog is my lifesaver.
