  1. I am happy to hear the books are complete and are on their way. I am sad to hear that Nathan didn't receive them all, just an advance copy cause in my experiences, when things leave China, it is at least 4-6 weeks for travel across the ocean, customs, delivery to the distributors, and then standard shipping to us. But at least I don't really feel like Wyrd just ran off with my $$ anymore.

Either way, I am still holding on to my excitement for the game. End of June looks like a busy month for shipping arrivals (Dead of Winter, TTB, Krosmaster expansions...)

  2. Communication via the Kickstarter would have been VERY appreciated. If the product was on the boat, a quick communication to say as much would have gone a long way. The reason there are so many "Wyrd screwed me over" posts is because of the sheer lack of said communication. We understand that production delays are part of life and are in the hands of production but a check in puts a lot at ease to let those that gave Wyrd their hard earned money to make this a reality know that things are still progressing. As a backer, do I feel "screwed over"? No. Taken advantage of? Yes. I am just happy to hear that the books are due to arrive in a matter of days.

  3. I think it's pretty douche-like to tell someone how they have to paint their models. I mean, they put down the $$ for them, put them together, and put forth the effort to put whatever paint job they decided they wanted to see on them. We might not agree with the selection but since we did not contribute at all to the purchase/construction/painting of said models, it's just what it is - an opinion. And you know what they say about opinions.

  4. I also find the KKK thing amusing. You have a universe which is based around the premise that humanity is paramont, anything that is slightly different is burnt as a heretic. You have a group in it that is based obviously based on being religious bigots, the models are based on the spanish inquisition. And your complaining that their fascist xenophobic religious zealots look like a group of fascist xenophobic religious zealots? Things happen in history, they are not always good. Is it healthy to pretend they did not happen. I can remember when White Wolf wrote their Wraith expansion for the Holocaust. It had a great intro at the start by a professor in hebrew studies. He said that the worse thing that could happen is that people forgot what happened. If the past needs to be put in the form of a movie or a Roleplaying game or even a cartoon to reach people then it's fine as long as the message is being seen by people.

Therefore making historic models of certain groups fine. Collecting models of said groups is fine. The player's personal beliefs is what matters.

And if you pretend things didn't happen they will just happen again.

Battlefront's Flames of War has WWII German Nazis in it. Does that mean when my son walks in on my playing/painting, I need to throw a sheet over it all?

  5. I think this whole thread has de-evolved into a morale conflict. The way things were 10-15 years ago are miles behind the way things are today. That is just the way it is. Certain people will feel 1 thing is fine while others will not. No matter of examples and debate will really change that. It just comes down to agreeing to disagree.

If you don't like the models, don't play with them. It's your right as a consumer. If your wife/girlfriend doesn't like them, no one is twisting her arm to play with them.

  6. I dunno. I like the idea you have for it but I think ultimately, it will make it too complicated. Not only do you need to think about achieving the game's Strategy, but you also have to think about how your going to achieve your scheme(s), how your going to deny your opponent any VPs, what your going to hire into your crew so you can achieve the previously mentioned. I think that once you push more things like this into the game, it will muddle it up. I mean, some crews can't even achieve the example of 1 construct, 1 undead, 1 etc...

  7. I think basing extra VPs off having multiple crews and such basically will evolve into who ever has the most money i.e. can buy the most variety of models, wins. I think if you want to have the players go for more side goals and what not, force them to be able to choose a particular scheme only once. So like, if a McMourning crew chooses Bodyguard in round 1, they can't take that scheme again for the rest of the tournament (provided it's not too many rounds) so that will force players to be picky about which ones they choose and when and will also force them to branch out and try other schemes that they might not normally choose. This way, players who have multiple crews and those who only have 1 will all be on the same level playing field and no one will feel like they've already lost before the tourney has even begun.

    **Edit**

If you want people to play different masters, maybe try a campaign where only 1 master can be chosen per faction. This makes for a limited number of players but would ensure a very broad playing field of crews

  8. My vote is for unpainted. That way, when I build it and paint it, when I add more figs to the crew, the paint jobs between the figs won't differ. If the crew came pre-painted, the figs I would add to the crew would stand out due to the contrasting paint styles/ability. Just my .02 cents.

  9. I'm a big fan of non-static boardgames as well. From Betrayal at House on the Hill to Dungeonquest, it makes for very diverse games. Having Schemes will make for even more fun as you try to manipulate and move through the board to achieve your goal. Nothing is more heartbreaking than being 1 tile away from victory to only flip that board tile to discover a dead end.

Course, it could also end up being a sort of random board like Last Night on Earth. That changes elements for each game but not nearly as random as Dungeonquest. But it would angle more towards ease of use for mass puppets.

Will you guys release creepy and horrible soundtracks like those that come with Last Night on Earth and A Touch of Evil? I always torture my friends with those songs when we play, lol.

  10. Here is my take on the proxy situation. I used to work for GW years back and the rule of thumb at the GT's were that as long as the model used I think the percentage was like 80% GW models/bits, it was allowed. Especially for figs that had rules but no models released.

My personal feelings on it is that if the model has not been released yet, then I believe proxies should be allowed. The rules are already released and out there for all, I don't feel that I, the player, should be penalized because the model I wish to play isn't high up on Wyrd's figure release list. I do believe though, that in a Wyrd tournament setting, the proxy should have mostly (if not all) Wyrd bits and pieces. They also MUST look like the figure they are representing (I'm shocked about the previous posted story of the eldar nids!).

  11. Arcanist - 139ss, Neverborn - 188ss, Ressers - 150ss, Outcasts - 116ss, Guild - 80ss Thats 673ss and 143 models and I have a Marcus boxset, Molemen, Essence of Power and Hoarcat Pride on the way.
