  1. Odd thought, did the American civil war occur in the alternate history of Malifaux? Are there Confederate rebels amongst the convicts exiled to Malifaux? Did any of them ride with Quantrill?

according to the fluff- maybe not

(I don't have my book in front of me)

the first opening was in the late1700's and then again 100 years later... in the late 1800's

the events of the first opening would have changed our known time line and created diffrent issues- for us Americans,

a diffrent foccus other than the rights of states to trade openly with other countriesimport slaves and the civil rights of all American people to be free could be a completly moot point

not to completly digress and hijack, but with the exception of Marcus, there seems to be no other characters of "color"

  2. I'd love to see another wester-gunslinger crew option as Outcast. Don't get me wrong, the gremlin's are cool, but having a good old, classic outlaw crew would be nice.

Not straight gunfighters of course, gotta have a little bit of that Wyrd-ness in there :) (Darktower-style gunslingers maybe?)

    On that note:

a Pinkerton Dective type squad would be cool...

would even tie into the Railroad Baron theme

Pinkerton could be the Henchmen/Special forces unit while the RR unit would have the Master

  3. the zelous preacher has been brought up-

I realy like the idea of using the Carnival to inhance the Arcanist faction- Ring Master

a knife thrower, "Strong Man" and a tight rope walker with some flight/float skills

On the flip side, Lobostele and I were chatting about a ballance between the West and East versions of characters

why not an Ottman(Arabian) styles Vizar (wizard) with Djiins (Genie) and Dust Devils Hassin and Turks

  4. I still think the westen/Jesuit styled Zelot-priest with a few fat Friars and some Ruler toting Cloisterd nuns would be bad ass

    give them abilities like

Cast out, Exercise(m), holy water explosions

Truth is a Sword Melee ability

    Guardian angel totem

    only hire LIVING

    plus flips agianst Neverborn

  5. our Cincinnati Crew have been using 3'x3' layout for some time now and for the most part it's nice

using the terrain set up "Rule of thumb" (15-30 'pieces' of terrain) works out well

My complaint lately has been that I seem to ALWAYS draw the diagonal setup and one of the missions requiring markers to be put in the narrow spaces...

everything seems to be bunched up... and convaluted at that point

I'm considering gtting some of the new Battle mat terain from ZUZZY miniatures in 4x4 size so I can play 3x3 with a "Dead zone" like described above or expand

  6. adding multiple factions as an option (IMO) is not good-

    for the reasons above-

in addition, as an organizer you want to turn over the time the players are using quickly and efficiently

imagine going from table to table with a Rasputina squad (Usually 5-7 models) to a Leveticus or Colodi squad (7-13) between each table!

keep in mind, not every venue has the space of GenCon or some other Large scale con, they are played in local stores with other things going on

the rules as written, lay out that you hire your squads after the main "Goals" of the game are introduced...

the debate could go on& on... mostly becoming an 'Us' vs 'Them' issue- I prefer to stick to what IS

From what I've seen and been able to play test, the OP Tournament format being set up is VERY fair and equitable for either type of player and keep to the origional format as outlined in the rule books

  7. I like the idea of goal based play. For example play a game in the tournamant with different masters each round. I think it would be great to see a tournamant format that has sub goals that will let players take a tournamant based on more then just winning games. Local area is looking to run some thing like this for a league. Any one think some thing like this could work on a tournamant level.

    yes

my understanding is the Tournament format being worked on by the OP(Organized Play) group is designed to work based of VP(Victory points)

just because a player has a maority of wins, donesn't automaticly mean they have superior number of VP

Keep in mind, this game is not all about "Kill 'em all"

like DDM, Star Wars Mini or Heroclix

  8. I used a skull pile base and some addidional bones ans skulls from GW and the Negative Woman elelment from the Hero clix fig as DUST

then Cut off the Smoke/Fire Element from the Green Goblin fig and made a wastland base for it ASHEN CORE

    (they are both on 30's)

Then I cut the Wind elemental loose form the WoW Base and use this one as the Combined Piece on a larger base!

  9. Joss is supposed to be a Native American, a "noble savage"

    if you will...

being as many of the characters in Malifaux ARE Characters... over stylized and stereotyped versions of the origional idea...

    again I ask:

(Besides being a 'tricky' model to assembel)

    WHAT's WRONG IT>?

  10. Grass no.. but Gravel can do rocks for bases no problem.

Currently I am also looking for nice bases and have bought some of the Street Inserts.

How do people connect the minis to them though, vut off the base tab and pin? Or magnets? I'm thinking magnets myself as I need to be able to remove them from the bases for transfer.

the RARE EARTH type magnets work for SOME miniatures, as the size of the base-point is restrictive

but for the most part most folks PIN the model

Privateer Press makes an awsome pinning kit for $12.99 that includes a ver nice pin-vice, PLENTY of pinning stock and several pin drill bits
