I'm currently working on a Kirai group themed around kabuki theatre. For the seishin I want to have a daemon mask brightly painted held aloft by Stagehands painted all black.

The oni masks will be made from WFB ogre heads with extras sculpted on. As for the stagehands themselves, I have no idea.

At the minute the only thing I could think of is sculpting these completely from scratch or using some old ebob-armatures I have and saying that they are children.

Any one know of any models that might be easy to work into a role like this?

they have a pretty good databse of figs and an online store that accomidates quite a bit

Black Scorpion has a nice selection of figs in the "pirate" & "western" theme thier figs often need a bit of cleaning up but they can be purchased via SCALE CREEP Miniatures(Distributor) on the cheap

in addition, Freebooter(I think) and Hassel Free miniatures

carry a nice line of choices too... price can be high with shipping though...

Both can function just fine out of the box...to an extent.

They both do need some added bonuses to really shine.

Both need a totem (Essence of Power for Raspy, Mobile Toolkit for Ramos).

Raspy could use a silent one at the least and some faster models(most prefer cerberus, hoarcat pride X2, or mechanical rider once its out)

Ramos defenitly needs more Steampunk arachnids, unless you magnetize the bases so you can swap them from 50mm to 30mm.

I would also consider adding some more speed to both of them with something like corphyees just because the duet is fast and powerful.

All of that aside, yes they can function REASONABLY out of the box, but don't be surprised to find your self wishing for more to help fix the crews weaknesses.

I have both masters and little issue iwth the synergies out of the box

like any master, enhancments make squads 'round out'

and the above suggestions are right on par with what you'll see in the Stradegy discussions

I'll second the simple green as an overall choice

Young painters can access it with little harm of injury

But it's not my primary choice

I prefer PineSol 2:1 with water for 1-2 hours

I also find a simple no frills medum tooth brush works well and won't

Mar the metal during cleanup

I got some laser-etched ones produced for my club. We sold some extras and are giving away the rest at an upcoming tournament. there's a lot of neat stuff out there that others have made, as well.

Those look custom from various scraps, gears and bits. Personally, those bases would be too tall for my tastes.

Im actually considering ripping off the WoW Dust/Air elementals...

Swirling vortex with a solid core (removable to its own base)

this is what we did

I used the Negative woman (Heroclix) aperition(sp?) and mounted it to some Sketons and "Debris" =Dust

and then used the Toro Heorclix figure mounted to a 'smoldering' wreckage base =Ashes

I prefer the Testors

Where can I get the bases used on the box of the Ramos starter pack? They cant be wyrd ones as they dont sell them, anybody recommend other bases?

I think the Spiders bases are customs

Ramos base (If you look closly) is actually the base insert that comes with Johann

My self I like the Bases from Micro Art they have a nice variety

the ones I like in particular are POWER PLANT & BIO TECH

The brighter color pallet is a diffrent and in your case a successful change

I'm not a fan of the gloss finish though I think a dullcoat would really help bring out the details in your work

Haven't tried it yet, but looks like you can get a good effect on the cheap and easy. Will be time consuming, but I hope this helps.

We've tried the HA Method, and the afore mentioned techniques

Corigated cardboard, square cardstock shingles are FAR superior and more durable

as a hobby photographer

just about any camera upper shelf camera will work

in the last 9 months I've come to realize 3 things about taking pics of your work

Lighting-

you said you have plans to build a rudementary box- great!

take a look at "rubbishinrubbishout" from Battle Bunker on youtube and take pointers for how he did his

Control

Get a stand to mount the camera on; something solid and stable with at least 2 points of articulation

Foccus

Understand how the Macro works and the shutter speeds; find the "Sweet spot" in you light box so you always know where to position your pieces and camera

beyond that it's all bells, whistles and PRACTICE

my image for that master is a disconnected arcane architect driven insane, seeing the world in blueprints and changing them as he goes....

Don't misunderstand me- the IDEA is solid (IMO)

but (and please don't feel like you have to defend)

when terrain set up, which is VERY subjective and fluid in these games... is part of the Masters abilities... I see a major roadblock

i'd love an arcanist master with total terrain control (board builder myself)

summon, remove and shift around, maybe slam it into models

create rifts and hazardous terrain, grow plants, and raise structures

forcing the enemy to take risks or plan ahead, while encamping myself

think earthbending/arcane architect/mad gardener

I really like the idea of "Terrain Control" for a master...

but myself- I just don't see it as an Arcanist held ability...

that seems more like the Neverborn...

we used the one from the book and Streched it out a bit and use the clues form the map details (Rocky, Baren , swampy etc)

& the the description of the Locations (Pumping station, holding facility, sewers) and Laid out our campaign map accordingly
