  1. If there was intrinsic value to the metal I might think otherwise, but white metal is rubbish, worthless except on the manufacturing scale.

My vote will always go with whatever material is easiest to work with on my end. In particular that means ease of drilling, cutting, gluing, durability once constructed and ease of positioning while in play. Metal fails all of those tests, and in my eyes that's too much to pay for feeling better in the hand.

  2. Hi Tarragon,

For my crew I went with a mixture of flat & rough textures, as I really dig the contrast. But for some of the flat textures I used sheet styrene, which you can either buy with a prefab texture in it (like tiles or shingles) or get a plain piece and carve into it.

Here's some pics of my crew if you want to see what I mean:

Also, I definitely second Avatarform in that Pandora is very flexible thematically. There really isn't anything that's wrong for her.

    Good luck with your crew.

  3. EXCELLENT Pandora, brother. I see I'm not the only one who made the asphyxious soul - avatar sorrow connection right away. Though I have to say, I like how yours are actually coming straight out of the box.

I'm really digging fishnets, the pattern on the blue fabric, and the quality of the mask on her jacket with the creepy two-tone eyes.

Very gorgeous and creative. I salute your work!

  4. That's actually pretty impressive, especially considering it's your first work in 32mm. The bases are very cool (I am a big fan of custom bases & think they can really make the mini).

Most impressive to me are the stripes on the convict gunslinger's pants. They look very precise.

  5. I've got a big crush on Lady J and you really do her justice. I'm really digging the alternate paint scheme. She looks ready for a raid on the Decembrists.

One thing I always love hearing from painters is how different your process is. I paint almost exclusively from white undercoats and probably would have washed and then highlighted. You started completely differently and it turned out great.

Nice base also. She looks like she's raised up just high enough for her sword to be parallel with anyone's neck.

  6. Thanks Chucklemonkey,

I made a thread about my Teddy a while back since he's the first Malifaux fig I painted. There are some closeups there. I'm also a big sucker for Teddy as he's the fig that really tipped the scale for me toward buying my first neverborn crew. He's just so weird and unlike anything from other mini ranges that I own.

  7. Hello,

A while back I posted some pics of my Pandora crew in progress. Well it's taken forever (work / school / procrastination) but they're done! It feels good to have my first "full" crew done (I plan to add a doppleganger and some insidious madness when they are released).

I plan to rest for a day and then...on to the next crew!

    Thanks for looking!

  8. Oh, nice. The circus vest makes it just wacky enough to be a teddy bear. I was thinking of throwing down for another Teddy for my dreamer crew but I know I'd like a different scupt for variety.

    Thanks for the tip-off Peter!

  9. For my sorrows I was attaching them to a base built up with miliput.

I cut the tab off completely and drilled a very small pin into the bottom of the model. On one of them (the one who is pointing) I drilled straight through the bottom of the "swirl" and stuck a pin through, then clipped it down and took like 10 seconds to trim it with a razor blade so that it was indetectable once primed.

They have been very solid since.

  10. Do you mean non-woes? Because there are a lot of new woes now, and even some non-woes that can force a lot of WP duels. Even without this link-cuddle, I plan on seeing many new crew variations for pandora.

Why so much tension over a 3-point model anyway? Game producers change model rules all the time, making some strategies viable while others not.

For someone (such as myself) who just bought into this game by buying her crew starter box, this seems like a really poor suggestion. I'm only going to continue investing money in a game I enjoy if I get enjoyment out of my starter. You don't want to say to new players they should shelve half their first batch of figures almost immediately in the name of variety.
