  1. I put the Hired Swords together and didn't really have a problem with anything other than the Student of Conflict's little ponytail. I just clipped it down a little bit and it's worked just fine since then.

I have read that the student of conflict pony tail was a problem area. Im glad to read on how everyone is fixing that issue.

  2. Yep, pretty much! I almost never take the upgrade but you still can't go far wrong with Ronin, Gunslingers, Johan, Bishop etc. That said, they work just fine with other models too. ;)

To be honest i just thought it would be cool to add another relic hammer to the crew :)

Johanna is incredible value for literally any crew in the game, but definitely works very well with the Viks.

  3. It's a versatile crew that you can build quite differently depending on how you want to play. Vanessa and Lazarus make a great pair. Bishop is fantastic at everything. A Freikorps Librarian will never be unwelcome. The Malifaux Child is a great replacement for the Student. Hans is really useful.

I should really get around to writing that Viks tactica one of these days.

Would love to see your Viks tactica write up . Keep us posted

  4. What do people use for the fiddlier models, plastic cement or super glue? Going to unbox Ramos this weekend.

I wish you luck. Its a crew box that has alot of tiny bits

As well. Brass arachnid do one leg at a time and pay

very close attention to the online instructions for it. The executioner borg is the same way. Jose and Ramos will be your breath of fresh air on that crew box. You may wish to go slow on assembly with this one just to play it safe.

  5. That's a lie and I think you know that.

Sonnia goes together easily and looks spectacular. The Judge is easy assembly and is my personal favorite model in Justice's box. Ramos looks good without being difficult. The Ice Golem is nice and impressive without causing headaches. Hans looks great without being difficult. Miss Ery is (was?) a spectacular model that takes little to no effort to assemble. I could go on...

The Gremlins have some oddities in that they're small (strike one - especially after the Kin apparently all ate after midnight between editions), have an aesthetic that currently "requires" separate feet from the ankles down to achieve in plastic (strike two - the undercuts from their style of trousers hurts the cut on the moulds), and tend to come with bits that I am very, very unsure of having a decent life expectancy for transit (strike three? not really, they're still pretty enough to keep :P, but the fishing rod and the Whiskey Golem swing are going to cause fits for years).

The good news is that the Gremlin models look spectacular if you're willing to put in the time. However, I'm not sure they're worth the effort. How many soulstones is a damn Bayou Gremlin and just how long did I spend building one? How is a mosquito a study in both "tiny parts of nonsense" and "ugh, gap filling"? How many pieces does a gremlin's head to be in, So'mer?! XD

You know, I almost want to go grab a So'mer set and write an over-dramatic play-by-play of assembly along with pictures (one of which will probably be a horde of gremlin feet glue to my hand).

LOL! Yep its how I feel about it all. You can have an easy model and still it looks awsome i can vouch for the Marcus Claw and Fang crew box. It was an easy box to assemble and all the models look damn awsome in it.

  6. They aren't all doom and gloom and I really find that plastic cement does wonders opposed to glue. It seams the model together preventing those damn awful gaps.

Im going to try that. I have been using locktight crazy glue on all my miniatures mostly because they were metal. Now that alot of things are trancending to plastic it might be worth to change up some methods as well

  7. I agree. If the later released box sets of gremlins are not any better than the somer crew I myself may be just bying into another crew or faction all together. Its a shame too because i really like the gremlins but dont know if i love them enough to go through the headache of putting them together. I think ill pick up Burt and Gracie next and take a break on buying anything else gremlin till I see how the rest of the gremlin faction boxes turn out.

  8. After a super upsetting experience with putting the bayou boss box set together. Just was wanting to know if the hired swords crew box was more forgiving at assembly than say gremlins......ahhhh i think i have ptsd from putting the gremlins together....the mention of them makes me twitch....hired swords is a crew box I hsve been wanting to purchase and play for quite awhile now.

  9. I didn't find Yan Lo's beard that bad - at least it slots into the hole without having to shave it down or anything. You may need tweezers if you have large fingers, however.

I'm wondering what weird combination of keywords Wyrd accidentally hit that caused the following rule to occur:

"If you are a plastic Gremlin, your feet must be separate bits."

I agree. Its pretty jacked up.

  10. Nathan mentioned at Gencon that the manufacturing company they'd been using was a constant source of hassle (not least for their love of separating models into tiny fiddly pieces) and they'd recently switched to another company. The first model produced by that company was Miss Ery (who is a marvel of design and a joy to assemble).

Man i hope so. It would be great if the gremlins were not a nightmare to build. Or any other crew box for that matter.

  11. Couldn't agree more.

On the models, ugh, this isn't any better than the Som'er box. So it seems no branching out to the Gremlin faction for me unless they seriously shape up with the other boxes. I really hope the rumour about them switching the company that does the minis is true.

The somer box im only three models deep into building right now and i must say it is a nightmare to assemble. So the ophelia crew box is not any easier? And what is this rumor of switching companies?

  12. Ok so here is my take on the bayou boss starter crew...Wyrd a special place in hell is reserved for you for the ultra tiny bits that has to be assembled. The bayou gremlin with the fishing poll.....i mean wtf! Do any of thr founders of thid game even put togethrr some of the minaturr they produce and try the gremlins out and ever think man this crew is hella hard to assemble lets take the tiny bits thing down a notch shall we? Oj so far i got the fishing bayou gremlin assembled....grrrr........the skeeters whos antana were so thin that the slightest touch they snapped in half if not serveral pieces. And the last model assemble was lenny who was a breath of fresh air compared to the last three members of the crew box i assembled. In honesty im not raging out im only being sarcastic but come on. This crew box is nuts. I now know the pain of everyone else who plays the gremlin faction has felt.....oh the frustration....i know now. Oh how i know. Ok besides the not so fun assembly of thr bayou boss crew box how did you or do you feel now after you assembled and painted the crew do you still feel that it was all worth it :P
