  1. I have to disagree here. Golf is totally unbalanced. The latest and greatest clubs are totally OP. I mean the power creep in the new releases is totally out of control. My steel-shafted irons from just a few years back don't even stand a chance. We both get the same number of clubs in our bags, shouldn't mine be able to hit the ball just as far?!?

    So...

you're saying you bought resser golf clubs, that sucks man.

  2. The only stipulation I know of is that you should always put the card you used in the duel on top. So in you example the red J would go on top of those other 2 cards. but then the damage cards would go on top of those with the card you used for damage going on top.

I'm pretty sure a marshal has mentioned this somewhere, but I'm getting ready to leave so someone else will have to verify.

Oh and remember that none of the cards in a duel go to the discard pile until the duel is completely resolved

  3. So, let me get this straight...

Winning isn't everything? And, you can have fun with "sub-par" models? And, it's more memorable to flip a black joker on an important flip than to have a guaranteed damage flip that kills a model?

Or ,heaven forbid, having a 3 point model red joker a :-fate :-fate :-fate damage flip on you master and kill said master is more exciting and fun than having said damage flip be shrugged off?

Man, who would have thought it?

great post. by the way. I wish more people had this kind of mentality when playing games.

  4. I just want to make a few comments.

first on the Joker Luck mitigation, I think the jokers are fine as-is. Everyone knows a straight flip against you can ruin your day because your opponent could have a red joker in hand. And, everyone learns that you can try to get a :-fate :-fate :-fate if your model is going to die anyway to try and pull a black joker. I really don't see the problem. The jokers (as stated by Wyrd) are meant to be game changing, I don't think there will be a change here at all. I really don't think these things happen as much as some would let on, they are just more memorable.

I agree on the power level of minions, however by the looks of your sheet you have a vendetta against certain groups. Not saying you do, it just looks that way. Especially when you buff Fransisco's duellist but leave Francios' alone. And, I believe you didn't give a single buff to any Gremlin model, only cuddles. Not even the warpig.

I also agree on some of the strategies and schemes, they need some more that aren't so reliant on movement. and the Master specific ones vary from way too easy (Levi) to f'in impossible (Som'er). Hamelin's and Zoraida's are actually quite nicely balanced and probably on the level they should all be.

I may give some more input on a case by case basis after I have a chance to digest the list thoroughly

  5. OK,

after you read this, go back to the main forum page. Watch the flash display on the right hand side, under the new posts.

Pay attention right after the aNicodem picture.

alt Nicodem? or alt Levi? or something else entirely?

  6. She can't be targettted by spells that don't require resists because they aren't considered attacks. For a spell (or ability) to be considered an attack, it has to require your model to rst.

    and per Sharpobjects post above:

The card says range strikes and spell attacks

  7. I don't know as it's a missing type or a strange hybrid of the listed types, but I think my type of player isn't quite represented. While I like to win, it's not my driving goal. I'm not real big on list construction because I often put a crew together just for the hell of it. That's not to say I can't figure nasty combos, it's just not my mindset. Win or lose, I like to do it in style, and I want both myself and my opponent to have a good time.

Locally, I am probably one of the top players. I don't lose often, but when I do, it tends to be spectacular. Most of my losses fall into the 8 - 0 category. But, most of my wins are close games because that's the way I like it. I don't see the point in stomping on an opponent unless that is the specific point of the day. (A tournament using differential for victory conditions would be a case for this.) I am just as likely to tell an opponent how to better play as I am to pull a nasty trick. And I like the Funky combos.

I guess I'm mostly a Johny, but the description just doesn't feel right.

Wow, I was going to post a description of myself, but I think Bruglyother just wrote it for me.

  8. Well, they talked me into running another tournament. It's kind of a short turn around, but it will take place on June 24th at Game Theory in Raleigh NC.

Rules are similar to the last one:

    single master, 50 SS pool.

    30 SS games

    unique schemes

    1.5 hr rounds.

We had 8 players in April, I'm expecting more this time.

    $10 entry fee

  9. A lot of the trouble can be averted if you have any amount of self-control. You don't have to start with 2 blocks of rats with ratcatchers in them. You don't have to continually kill and respawn rats to get a ton of activations.

Hamelin actually has quite a few models he can add from other factions. Try Candy and Kade. Throw in some canine remains or guild hounds. Any of the Effigies will work for him too. Hell, if you really want to be a nice guy, you can take 2 crooligans.

I rarely start with more than 1 or 2 rats. And often I don't have any at all. I have yet to lose as Hamelin in my area. However, I also have yet to have anyone rage-quit or refuse to play Hamelin either.

The main point is, just because Hamelin can be played like an asshole, doesn't mean he needs to be played that way.
