  1. The Shifting Loyalties Campaign will begin Saturday February 20th at Noon, and end on Saturday April 16th (8 weeks).
All games must be played at the Louisville Game Shop.

The Louisville Game Shop is located at 925 Baxter Avenue, in Louisville, Ky, in the 40204 Zip code.

    Phone: (502) 456-2734

Only the first two games you play each week count towards the Campaign.
You can play more than two in a week to help another player get their games in, you just won't be able to earn Scrip, Upgrades etc...

Entry Fee $5 which will go towards prize support.

Models do not have to be painted.

Proxies are allowed as long as they are on the correct base size.

    Prize support:
Each player will be put in a drawing at the end of the campaign, several prizes be available.
Those who have a completely painted Arsenal at the end of the campaign will be put in for a drawing.

The person who has the fanciest Hide Out (page 34. of the Shifting Loyalties book) will earn a prize.

    Special rules:
per page 32 and 33 of the S.L. Book.
Stay Dead: Rare 1 models can not be hired again if they are Annihilated.
    Week 1 only: Extra Script.
Week 4 only: Cut 'em Up for Parts

We will be using the Hide Out rules to add some competitiveness to this event.

This allows the players to earn components for their Hide Out, which gives bonuses during your games.

Each player will be responsible for keeping track of all Upgrades and Hide Out bonuses on their Arsenal Sheets.

Masters can be hired at the beginning of week 4.

The Louisville Game Shop will be hosting a 6 week achievement league and painting competition from 10/20/2013-11/24/2013.

The league is designed to be fun and challenging for players of all experience levels and will be a great way to learn the game for new players.

    The cost is $5.

We will be using Malifaux Second Edition Rules.

M2E wave 2 beta models rules will allowed, and I encourage players to post feedback on the beta forum if used. Proxies are allowed as long as they are Wyrd miniatures and on the correct base size for the proxied model.

I'll also be running Demos on 10/20/2013 at The Louisville Gameshop from 1pm-4pm.

  4. I have purchased the Hamelin crew and discover it and other models for it have erattas.

Now with the new edition on the shelves I grab my new copy and the Outcast Arsenal stat cards.

    no Hamlin

    rats

    ratcatchers

how is a new person to this game who buys this crew supposed to play this game?

    Where are my stat cards?

I feel I just threw money away

Hamelin now has access to almost all of the Outcast models. I hope you find use for those cards in the Wave 1 Arsenal Deck, there are a lot of good models in it. At the very least, you have purchased the generic Upgrades for the Outcast Faction.

  5. RAW is a slippery slope, lets take a ride. The ability does state you can discard your hand which is still there, even if empty and can even be considerd to be 0 cards(not Raw though). Its a good argument Tara allows you to discard your whole hand, even if it is empty; its a neat thing she does. If you do,though, you risk another RAW argument; that you no longer have a hand at all. It has been discarded, the special rule from Tara allowed you to get rid of it regardless, page 24 does say you hand size can change depending on special rules etc... Congrats you get the ability off by discarding what is your hand per RAW. So, how do you get your hand back? Per Raw on page 34, you have to check your hand to see if you have less than your maximum hand size, then you draw back up. Since you no longer have a hand due the ability and no rule has allowed you to redraw it, its gone. You have no hand at all, there is nothing there to refill. Getting way too RAW would actually mean that unless you discard exactly 3 cards you have to discard your whole hand and can no longer draw any cards that are required be placed in youre hand, unless you get it back.

  6. Your control hand is 2.

You have the task of placing 2 cards into the discard pile, increasing its size by 2.

At the start, the discard pile will have x cards in it. At the end, it will have x+2 cards in it. The size will have increased by 2, so you've successfully placed your whole hand in the discard pile.

    Your control hand is 0.

You have the task of placing 0 cards into the discard pile, increasing its size by 0.

At the start, the discard pile will have x cards in it. At the end, it will have x+0 cards in it. The size will have increased by 0, so you've successfully placed your whole hand in the discard pile.

You've actually not discarded any thing though. Also, your control hand is empty per page 24, since it is empty, not 0 you can't even place 0 cards on the discard pile to fulfill the discard requirements. The general definition of discarding requires that you get rid of a something. I also think page 24 reinforces that only cards can be discarded. An empty hand would allow you to discard nothing, not even 0. I get the arguement from the other side and I hope that it is addressed in the FAQ, because it is ambiguous.
  7. You always have a control hand.

Sometimes it consists of zero cards.

Temporal Shift says discard your hand.

You have a hand of zero.

    Discard zero.

It would still require the act of discarding. How can you discard when you have nothing to discard. You may still have a contol hand of 0 but that doesnt get past the requirement of placing something into the discard pile.

  8. Is it? I know what Bill is trying to do here and although I know there has been some bad blood this is less about hate for M2E and more about love for Classic.

In my personal opinion a fan supported free version of 1.5, with a limited license from Wyrd would not hurt Wyrds bottom line. Its not going to grow, like Pathfinder did. It going to just keep the die hard 1.5 fans happy. But what it may do, is get 1.5 die hards to buy exclusive M2E models (Like the Iron Zombies, Brewmaster or the Tara box set), if there we a fan driven 1.5 card for them.

An interesting point to this is I just recently asked on Twitter(and emailed the participants at Adepticon 2013) if any Malifaux players would be interested in playing in a Malifaux Classic event at Adepticon 2014. I got over 50 responses and nearly half of them want a Classic event. The plan, of course, is still to run mostly M2E events. But the poll tells me that a Classic event would still be popular(at least next year).

Anyways judging by Eric's letters on Classic site I don't know if all the doom and gloom is needed yet. Sounds like maybe a post Gencon announcement may be coming.

To be fair, M2E hasn't come out yet and very few people have played its final version. We really wont get to play with all of the current models in their final rules until January ish. I would suspect that the results of the poll may change greatly (one way or another) once the game actually is released and is played.

Next Saturday (6/29/2013) we will be having our first M2E beta tournament at 1pm at the Louisville Gameshop.

The tournament will be using latest updates for the beta rules, which will become available on 6/27/2013. Each player is expected to have their own copy of their model state cards and Upgrades. I will have an updated Scheme and Strategy list (with their descriptions) for everyone.

    Details:

    >There will be a $5 entry which will go towards prize support.

    >41SS fixed crews (You'll be using the same models every game.), you may choose different Upgrades for your crew each game.

    >Three games with a 2 hour time limit each (It's a beta, so it's expected that there will be more questions than usual and that's ok.).

    >Proxies are allowed as long as they are on the correct base size.

    >No painting or basing requirements.

    >Strategies:

    Turf War

    Reckoning

    Stake a Claim

    >Players will be able to choose one of the following schemes each round. Each scheme may only be used once during the tournament.

    Line in the Sand

    Protect Territory

    Bodyguard

    Frame for Murder

    Take Prisoner

    Vendetta

    Assassinate

    Deliver a Message

    Distract.

The primary goal is to try out crews in different situations to see any potential strengths or weaknesses while having fun. We are all still new to this rule set. I recommend everyone come to the tournament with this in mind, relax, have some fun games.

  10. I think Wyrd has shown that they go out of their way to get us goodies as much as possible. While having a free PDF download of the cards would be nice, it may not be a possibility.

I've got several models from all the 7 factions and will need to pick up all 7 faction decks. I know the transition is coming and will be putting a little extra back over the next few months with this in mind.

  11. After listening to Tartan Skirmish Radio interview, it appears that masters will have more defensive triggers and still be able to keep their prevention flips, so hopefully that will make up for the loss of the healing flip. Honestly though, after three years of playing regularly I've rarely seen anyone use a healing flip.

  12. The Cake match and the team tourney were the absolute highlights for me. I loved the competitive yet, relaxed feel of the team tourney. I like the extra time to quickly discuss a move with my partner before making it. It really made it a team effort instead of you and your partner just playing side by side.
