  1. Glad to see this thread. I was just about to come and post about needing a 25ss Ramos list. I'm a newbie with limited model access, but not adverse to some additional purchasing. The setup is there's going to be a 25ss league in my store. One list plays through all three weeks. Scenarios and schemes are pre-determined. Right now, I have the Ramos box, an Electrical Creation, Joss, Johan, a Colette box, and a Coryphee blister. 25ss feels really limiting for Ramos (but to be fair I've only played one game with him [one game of Mal, period]). I like the idea of pairing Joss and a Brass Arachnid, just for the possibility of getting three activations in one turn when the timing is right. So I'll probably use him as my melee beatstick over Steamborg. I think an arachnid swarm / 3 arachnids is a must. But that's already 20ss, and I have no idea what to do with the other 5! In my current collection, Johan is the only thing that fits. But that would leave me with only a 2ss pool. I just don't know ..
  2. Thanks for the link. My crew is Showgirls, so I'll have to make my own.
  3. Mal n00b here. Just got my first batch of figs in the mail yesterday -- Showgirls crew and the additional Showgirls units (Coryphee, Doves). And I'm loving them so far. But as a total n00b seeing these things for the first time ... wow, this print is small! Upon comparison, it really looks smaller than my Wm/Hordes cards. Would a more traditionally-sized card that still folded out double have perhaps made these a bit more legible? I'm not generally a glasses-wearer, but I'll be darned if I didn't squint a bit last night reading them. Also: Dark purple letters on a black background? Um. I didn't even realize there were letters there until I looked at the cards in a harsher, brighter light. Sorry for nitpicking ...
  4. Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, I'm working with tight evening schedules. Thursdays are usually my best night; but even that night got ruined this quarter. Honestly, one of the reasons I'm looking at Mal right now is I know a couple people playing it on weekends. Then, when my Thursdays open back up, I'll be able to join that night. But if I ever get a free Tuesday, I'll definitely keep RIW in mind.
  5. Awesome info. Thanks. One more: Is there a compiled list of all models with the Mercenary trait somewhere?
  6. Yeah, I haven't even made it to book 2 yet. So, are avatars something that anyone can choose to bring into any game, and that count towards army cost? Or can they only be brought in certain scenarios? What I mean is, could I be playing with, say, a lowly battle box army at a low point level, and have someone whip out an Avatar on me?
  7. Good to know. Also, I keep seeing "Avatars" mentioned. Are these like Epic Warcasters in WarMaHordes?
  8. Kaeris is the one not yet released, right? With the gunslingers? She's another box I'm dying to pick up. Honestly, I picked Arcanists because it has the most models that I'm keen on painting ...
  9. Here's the kind of angle I was hoping for. I look around the Arcanist range and, even though they are billed as a faction, everything seems to specifically 'grouped' -- there's Tina and the ice monsters, Ramos and the mechanicals, etc. I'm very much used to Warmachine/Hordes, where there's much more versatility and variability within a faction. What I really want to know is: Can I run a Showgirls crew, but effectively run some Arachnids with them? What about an Ice Golem? Does Colette do anything for the Jackalope? Inquiring minds want to know. I'll be a bit bummed if the Crews are so straight-jacketed that varying your army is a losing proposition.
  10. So I gather, but my preferred FLGS is starting up a thing, and I want to join in at some point (though I'm working that night right now, ugh).
  11. So, my area is finally seeing some regular Malifaux action, and I'm getting ready to buy in. I know almost nothing about the game at this point, but based solely on looks / theme / limited fluff, I like the Arcanists, and in particular I am drawn to the Star Theater troupe. A few questions, if you don't mind ... I see the list of recommended starting models on the Malifaux page. But is there anything "outside the box" of the Star Theater core that you'd recommend / that goes really well with them? Would you even recommend Star Theater for a Malifaux noob? Or are they the kind of finesse army that a newbie might struggle with? [i am very experienced in other wargames .... ] All the models on the models page have a neat stage floor base. I don't see a base insert like that for sale, though. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
  12. I am keenly interested in this game. I think the minis are amazing, and the card mechanic is very appealing. But currently there's no one in my FLGS who plays, and I'd really like to just read up on the game a bit. I can't seem to find any website for the game. You know--description of factions, miniatures gallery, maybe a demo game, etc. The sort of website most every tabletop minis game has. Am I just missing it? Or is there a fan site serving this purpose? I'd like to know what models go with what models, what their names are, etc., before I place an order at my FLGS. --W@L
