I know what you mean about fragile plastic, Q'iq'el. One of the reasons I prefer metal is that occasionally I have a pretty difficult time even gluing models together. With pewter you can bend things around to make them fit, or change things altogether. Even if something goes wrong, you can almost always glue back the damage. That's a lot more difficult to do with plastic.

I'm just curious what the collective opinion on this board is regarding the eternal debate of whether plastic or metal models are preferred. I've had some folks I know prefer plastic because they're cheaper and some also say they're easier to paint. Others prefer pewter because they feel they allow more detail and customization, and those people feel painting metal is easier anyway.

Malifaux is a metal game so I imagine most people's opinions will prefer metal (As I do), but I'm interested in hearing the reasons why or why not.

Same with me - 25 ss games with my friend while we're still learning the ropes take a bit more than an hour.

I agree, the color work on Perdita is just about flawless.

I agree, I've never found a decent system for traveling with a decent number of minis. Usually I end up taking a little tool box with compartments, but it's not terribly sexy.

Just a quick question - I picked up the Perdita box set this weekend (Woo!) and Papa Loco comes with his head unattached, as well as a small, rod-shaped item. It kinda looks like another stick of dynamite, but neither the box art nor the rulebook has been able to show me what exactly this piece is and where it goes on the model. Any help?

The others were already on life support for me. I still play Warmachine/Hordes from time to time, but the ever-rising costs of that game were making it too difficult for me to continue being really pumped for it.

Sounds good! Just try to make your ideas too all-powerful. I've seen fan threads devolve into arguments about that before.

Wargaming as a whole ain't cheap. It requires a pretty serious financial commitment, which probably explains why it never really became a more mainstream hobby.

And on a purely business level, it encourages people to get models they might not have otherwise gotten, which benefits both the collector and the company.

Those are really great. Zombies are usually depicted in very muted colors, so the brightness of the red is a very nice contrast.

I agree. Personally, if I wanted to do a really quick game, I would just ignore things like Triggers and some of the other more complicated aspects of the game.

Is the Vulture Totem meant to be a different creature than the vulture that comes with the Nicodem model? Does he have a special "pet" one?

I definitely like the idea of an old timey-church complete with a freshly dug graveyard. I'll have to look into making that happen.

I understood it to be a wargame, actually. And I remember reading some stuff about it early last year, but I hadn't heard anything about it in the last six months or so. Are you sure it's still coming out here?

Fair enough, I'll of course honor that. But for personal use, it definitely comes in handy for me when I need to remind myself what a particular effect entails and such and I've forgotten where it is in the book.

And I'm putting together an Excel file that lists all model's stats, and has separate sheets with quick descriptions of all weapons, talents and spells (As well as who can use them).

I feel this is probably the best thread to ask this: What's a good resource for someone whose previous attempts at painting have been subpar at best? I tried it a couple of years ago, and was so disappointed with my results I haven't tried again for fear of ruining future models.

That's a pretty cool idea. I might use that for games. An even greater challenge would be how to incorporate rain into a match.

I've used this handle on other message boards before - It's a reference to Flik and Futch, two characters from my favorite video game series, Suikoden. Now THAT would make an awesome miniature wargame.

As for the 87, it's not a reference to my birthyear (That's 1985). I just picked that to be different, I guess.
