  1. Hello Guild officials,

Does a mobile list like below sound playable?

    McCabe w/ upgrades

    Luna

    Some number of Guild Hounds

    3-4 Mounted Guard/Pale Rider/Lone Marshall

I'm just getting back into Malifaux and was thinking about the most mobile (generalized) force I could bring to the table. Back when I played Chaos in WF I would take only horseback units and had reasonable success.

Malifaux seems like a game that this kind of list can work in, it isn't great at everything (head hunter and show of force come to mind) but I'd like to out maneuver my opponent to pick my battles.

Also I mostly have to work off my (poor) memory as I haven't been able to pick up all the books yet.

    Sale listing:

Miss Demenor -  unpainted unassembled, card laminated

    Sue - unpainted unassembled

Metal Leveticus box set - includes Leveticus, Hollow Waife, Rusty Alice, and 4 Abominations. All unpainted and unassembled, all cards (v1) laminated, no box. I'm willing to break this up this set or part with it whole. I'll put up pictures if requested.

Terraclips  Sewer Set and Connector bits: wysiwyg, should contain most bits and has minimal wear (used once or twice), accepting $40 or best offer for the lot.

I'm open to any cash offers as well as trade for plastic outcasts, just send me an offer. US only please, sorry Europe

    Happy painting,

    Nothingatall544

  3. Maybe it's just because I've been playing with plastic minis for most of my gaming, but I love the new plastic models. I got Venessa yesterday and assembled her last night and I love the detail in the model. I ended up dropping her hand twice and almost lost it in the carpet, but I learned to start doing my work over a box that would catch any of the small pieces that I dropped. Even after that though I am much more happy to be working with plastic again, rather than metal or resin.

Personally I would rather take the extra care up front in building my models than be left with a model in a static pose for months, if not years. So I'm good with the new plastic models, even with all the tiny pieces.

  4. "As someone with no rightful place of home in the city of Malifaux I do swear: To follow, fight, and love only when it is in my best interests, and to act solely in my best interests. Nothing in this world is looking to help me, so my I be the better man by helping anyone I can, for a price." -Unknown

You can count on me playing Outcasts all summer long.

  5. Hey Karn (or anyone else with Levi experience) I'm thinking about starting a Levi crew, with something similar to the below as a beginning point.

    Levi

    Canine Remains

    Hooded Rider

Pale Rider (Dead till Pale is released)

    Watcher

    Watcher

    Watcher

    Watcher

Can you offer me any insights as to weather this would work or not?

  6. I was trying to figure out what I could take, before trying to plan a list around it, but building the list would be a good idea, or at least a good outline.

    Lady J - 6 Cache

    Lucious - ???

    Guild Guard - GA

    Watcher - Rusted?

    2 x Austringers - GA w/ A

    3 x Guild Hounds - CR

It's a rough outline and I'm not really sure if it would work, but I know it can be fun

  7. Over Gencon I ended up getting the Undead Lady J box set, because I love the models.

But I've been having a hard time trying to fit them into a list that I like, I'm not hugely familiar with Guild and am running short on ideas of models to include cause I want everything to look ressy.

So far all I can think of is to use the box contents as themselves, Guild Autopsies as Guild Guard, Canine Remains as Guild Hounds, and Guild Autopsies with Vultures as Guild Austringers.

This unfortunately a good list does not make.

Can anyone else thing of any ideas for alternative models to use? Hopefully staying within Wyrds model-line.

  8. NOTE: Please do not post here unless it is with new info, I want this to be a compilation, not a discussion

    General:

A total of 30 new minions, 6 per faction, including 6 effigy dolls, again 1 per faction.

    Molly/Kaeris

molly's has molly, 3x crooligans and rogue necromancy while kaeris's box has kaeris, male gunsmith, female gunsmith,3xfire gamin

    Avatars:

    http://twitpic.com/61ejem

    Dolls:

Side note: apparently there is a Resser minion who is a Doll.

All of the factions got a doll minion. And all the dolls can also work for Neverborn.

Brutal effigy is a special forces guild doll

Mysterious effigy is a special forces never born doll

Hodgepodge effigy is a special forces outcast doll

Carrion Effigy is a special forces resurectionists doll

And the complete the set, arcane effigy is a special forces arcanists doll

They are all ht 1 with low dmg. But they all have abilities, spells and triggers that I am sure can to used to leverage other models. I am not good enough to know just by looking what they can do with those, though.

He keeps Rancid Transplant, and can summon 29 (Simulacrum 29) for 6 body parts if its not already on the table. in order to have 29 when he manifests there needs to be a flesh construct on the table, other wise he has to cut himself.

At the start of the turn you choose which of the 3 models is the real Colette, and which 2 are the decoys. They all use aColette's stats until they take damage. She gains Fast and has a total of 6 AP to spend between all 3 models. At end of turn if the real Colette hasn't been revealed yet, you have to reveal her.

She keeps Magician's Duel, picks up Sublime Performance and Mesmerizing, and then adds a lot of ways to mess with your opponent's deck and a few ways to mess with his hand, at the cost of all of her support skills.

Gremlins get a new unique gremlin. Hgt 3. :)

He's based on Lenny from Of Mice and Men. He has a ranged attack where he swats a piglet at his opponent with his big stick. The only other thing I know of him is that he has the dumb rule that Flesh Constructs have.

  9. Alright so I figured it's been a while I'll give this a shot, again I'll be building a list for Viktoria, that will try to be useful in as many situations as possible, so that I don't have to own all of the Outcasts faction to play competitively.

Starting off we've got Viktoria. Nice that we get 2 masters for the price of one, especially since we going to need some SS left over to help out during the game.

Looking at Viktoria she's got a lot of beat face and a bit of shooty, but a lot more beat face, so I want some shooty to help balance this out.

Things that jump to mind are the Convict Gunslinger, Freikors Trapper, Hans, and Rusty Alice.

We can't take Alice, so we won't even bother looking into her.

Hans to me has a place, but it's not here. He can be a fine model in a list designed to keep you opponent out of your deployment zone, but seeing as we're looking to make an allcomers list here, I'll pass on him.

To a lesser extent Trapper falls into a similar place he likes to sit in your deployment zone and shoot every turn. Since most missions need to be moving forward, I think there are better choices for what I'm looking to do.

This leaves the Gunslinger, who fits rather well, he can move a bit, shoot what he wants to, and help control midfield. On top of all this he's pretty cheap, a fine choice.

Now with this the list has 3 models that arn't the most durible things in the world, so lets grab a support piece that can help hold things together, the Librarian, a wonderful heal bot.

So 4 models that cost 12, not bad so far. now I want to keep at least 6 SS at the end for the in game cashe, so we're looking at having 17 more SS to work with.

I think for the rest of the list I want models that can be flexible, so they need to be able to shoot, or melee, they don't have to be awesome at it, they just need to be competent.

The two models that come to mind are freikorpsman and desperate mercs. Getting one freikorpsman takes up the last special forces slot, which I’m fine with and I really like it, decent gun/melee/move just a nice well rounded piece. The desperate mercs on the other hand I love. Any model that can put out 4 shots at CB 5 and ++ to damage in a single activation is awesome, doing that for 2SS is better. Let’s plan for 3 of them.

That leaves me with 7SS while keeping the reserve I want, and this seems like an easy call, a rohin to use as more CC or as a way to get back a Vik, and another desperate merc. Which leaves us with this list.

    • Ronin

10 Models in 35 SS is huge, and with 6 SS left. Will everything be living even half the game? No. But if it can take out somethign on it’s way that’s all I’ll need.

The list functions in all areas, while excelling in none, and even though it’s not the fastest list in the world it should still be able to handle any missions throne at it. Overall I get a good vibe from this list but I want to hear some other thoughts, I know I don’t hit many of the troupes of a normal Vik list, but I don’t like most of them.

    Thoughts?

  10. As a bit of a different approach I'd say Von Schill and the Freikorps.

They're the most well rounded crew I've seen, each model has good move CC and ranged firepower, not to mention things like the Trapper that has excellent range, Von Schill with excellent movement, and the Librarian with amazing support.

If I was looking to just get a few models to play with over and over, I'd go with them. They can inherently play several different ways without changing that crew composition.

  11. Hey Guys

So I'm a bit new around here and still kinda new to the game as a whole, I've played a bit and come from a war game background.

I've been trying to make Viktoria work as a master but in my experiences I've run into a few problems with the "common" lists I've seen. So I've gone about trying to create a new 35 SS list that works for me.

First the basic box is too mismatched for my play style, while Johan and Taelor are good solid pieces, they are a bit slow for my taste. As is Bishop but I also think he's a bit overcosted.

Then there's the Ronin and Gunslinger list. Again I find this list far too slow, walk of 4 is just not enough for me, add in that the Ronin are a little to fragile for 5 points.

Finally there is the newer idea of running Viktoria with the Von Schill box which I like a lot more than anything else, well costed pieces that have good defense, fair offence, and a walk of 5, yes please.

That being said I feel Von Schill himself is over costed, due to not being a master, he loses use soulstone, which hurts him. On top of that I don't particularly like the specialist, and the normal Friekorps men don't scream awesome to me..

I know I want to keep ~5 SS for my pool during play, I want this list to work in 90% of scenarios, so lets start building.

If I want this to work in most scenarios I'm going to need survivability, a fair amount of models to activate, a reasonable movement speed, and some kinda of a punch in CC or shooting.

Outcasts have limited shooting, so lets aim for the CC punch.

I think I'll grab the parts of the Von Schill box I actually like, the Trapper and the Librarian.

I know some people don't like the Librarian, but he can heal Viktoria, which heals both of them, hopefully making it so I don't have to burn all of my SS pool keeping them protected.

The Trapper just is excellent long range fire power, ask any Von Schill player, they are much better than they look on paper.

So that means we have spent 13 SS and we've got 2 good CC beaters, a long range sniper, and support for the army, but what else do I want?

Something that can stay on it's own and that can really fight things like LCB, and that are not my Master.

Then I guess lets look at the huge hitters of the Outcasts, Ashes and Dust, which I can't take, and Killjoy.

Well Killjoy is not as fast as I would like, but he does get placed later, so it's not as bad as him hoofing across the board, also he is a lot more durable than the rest of the list, but he needs someone to be sacrificed, and he costs a lot. :/

Lets try to run with it, we're at 24 SS total and we need something cheap to sac to Killjoy, Desperate Mercenaries fit the bill well, they are cheap and will die anyway, they're fast, they up the model count, and they actually are not that bad and can stick around if I need them.

If we take three then that puts the total up to 30 SS, starting with 7 activations on the board, 3 CC beaters, a long range sniper, a heal bot, and 3 guys to run into things and die, the whole list is either move 5, or placed onto the board, and the important parts are hard to kill. This sounds like a list I can run with.

    35 SS

    Master

    Viktoria

    Minions

    Desperate Mercenary

    Desperate Mercenary

    Desperate Mercenary

    Freikorps Librarian

    Freikorps Trapper

    Killjoy

Can I hear any thoughts on this? It's a bit different than most of what I see here, but does anyone think this could work? or am I talking out my bum?

Does anyone think this is a valid way to try and build an army in Malifaux? Really I'm open to any comments or criticisms
