  1. I'm gonna jump on the "why nipple shields" bandwagon. I understand keeping a game kid-friendly or PG rated. But Malifaux already isn't in several other ways (graphic injuries, for instance). Even juat considering these models, it looks like we have the maximum pissible amount of skin showing...and then nipple shields.

I would like either feathers, or even a bra better.

  2. Just to throw a monkey wrench into this discussion:  Corpse and Scrap markers are placed by the dying model's controller, not the model itself.  If Final Repose prevents their placement (and I assume we all agree that it does), should the fact that the other player is placing a marker as a result of a model dying change whether it functions?

A head marker is still a marker placed as a result of a model being killed.  Does Final Repose care which player is placing it?

  3. 1. Basing optional...this year

    2. Proxies are fine for unreleased models.

In other news, I will not be running this event this year due to family illness (not serious, just temporarily debilitating). However, IT IS STILL HAPPENING! One of the myriad other NE Hemchmen will step up (hashing out who now).

  4. It's that time of year again; time for the 3rd annual New England Soul Harvest.

    Who:  You, obviously.

What:  A 3-round, 50ss, ranked Gaining Grounds tournament.

When:  Nov 15th.  Registration starts at 10 am, round 1 starts at 11.  Rounds will be 2 hours, with a break after round 1 for lunch.  I expect to               be done around 7.

    Where:  The Game Castle

125 Nashua Rd - Londonderry, NH

                 (603) 425-7400\

    Why:  Because it's fun!

How:  With a little elbow grease.  For you, entry is $5.

Important Note:  will be enforcing the Gaining Grounds painting requirement.  I believe this will be the first event in the area to do so.

Any questions (I'm sure I missed something)?

  5. I have always felt that the best demo match was Seamus vs Justice. You get strong melee, strong shooting, plenty of casts, an intro to summoning, board control, terrifying, bury, and + and - twists. All with out upgrades; plus a few other things (Finish the Job, for instance).

Personally, I would say to keep the set simple and the cost down. Models, rules manual, and 2 decks. Maybe include a sheet with tokens and blasts to cut out. Getting the set out at or under $100 seems important to me.

Easiest way to get current players to buy it is alt sculpts of anything, hands down.

Alternatively, making a box containing just extras (tokens, cards, card terrain, etc) but no models could be viable, BUT defeats the purpose of a two player starter (one box to buy to start the game). It would still simplify things, though.

  6. I'm generally of the opinion that Kickstarter is essentially like a charity that may give back. I only fund projects that I'm willing to completely lose the money on without seeing anything in return, and I don't fund any other projects.

I didn't fund TtB on Kickstarter because 1) I knew it'd get made either way, so I could have just purchased the final product and 2) I wasn't completely willing to lose money on a project I knew so little about.

Honestly, I think the only way to approach Kickstarter is like a charity because you never know what's going to come out the other end. If you're doing it only for the product, just wait until it's available to purchase.

    My two cents.

The problem with this view (on a large scale, not for you, personally), is that many projects that are kickstarted WON'T get made if they aren't backed and funded.  Whether it's the actual requirement of money, or a way to gauge interest, or something else; projects on kickstarter are there for a reason.  If we all took your stance, none of them would get made, or some of them would get made, but be low quality.

  7. There will be a fixed faction, 45 soulstone Gaining Grounds tournament at The Game Castle on Sat, March 22.

This will be a 3 round event starting at noon (registration starting at 11), and while I will be waving the painting requirement (this time...), I will otherwise be following the Gaining Grounds document (I won't increase the number of rounds either due to time constraints).

$10 entry fee goes to store credit prizes.

  8. Strategies and Schemes up for Saturday.

For everyone speculating about potential attendance: Saturday attendance last year was 8. The tournament I ran before last year's con had 14 players, the one I ran in Nov had 15. I extrapolated from that. I may have been mistaken in my estimates. Saturday events at Templecon are in direct conflict with one or more major Warmachine events, which also has an effect on attendance.

If you think the tournament needed to be bigger, stop by and tell me in person at the con.

Still 6 slots open for Friday night as of pre-reg closing, too.
