So, who won for November?
-
-
ooooh, shot down, denied!
That's what I get for getting excited!
Well, you could still get two mature nephilim and a young nephilim in a 16 soul stone game.
Starters: Lilith, young nephilim, two sorrows, 8 soul stone cache. (includes Lilith's four starting soul stones.)
Two sorrows start in base contact with young nephilim. Lilith uses blood from stone to turn the eight soul stone into four blood counters. Sorrows link to young nephilim and use its mature ability, sacrificing Lilith's soul stones.
-
Huh, must be my end. Odd that one works.
-
I get a weird error when I try to view these. I would think it's an error on my end, but chronicles volume 1 works fine.
-
Ha! I love the pinstripe pants.
Good job.
-
Nice write up.
Some time I'll actually win a game...
-
Great write up, I can see the judge as a complainer.
Juju sounds great, I love his "out of the mud" ability. Can't wait to use him myself.
-
Well, Zoraida's Crew is my second for Malifaux, and I have to say Bad Juju's got nothin' on the War Pig!!
The swamp bases that I make for my miniatures are a pool of metal repair epoxy with half greenstuff balls pushed in for air bubbles; I similarly just push the models into it to stick them to the base and it seems to create a very secure hold (for voodoo dolls, etc).
This crew required a fair amount of modest greenstuffing (gapfilling), mostly on the Silurid's tails to get rid of the otherwise-obvious join. Bad Juju went together with super glue and then I filled in the gaps with greenstuff, using a wire brush to stipple it to make it look like the same mud consistency as his body. All in all, not too much trouble. (The War Pig had a MASSIVE gap between the two halves of it's body, and I had to fill it in and resculpt hair and all sorts!! PITA.)
Having put together both models, I just thought I'd voice my agreement.
What this man said.
-
Ack, the pictures make it look like they were hardly shaded at all...but take it on good faith that they were.
-
Here are some better close ups of the individual gremlins:
I painted a cartoon style eye at the end of the telescope but the stupid camera wouldn't focus on it:
I also finished all the converted gremlins, hog whisperer, and piglets I got recently but I still need to base them. I'll post pics in a day or two.
-
Happy thanksgiving to you all as well!
-
Ha! I love Hans.
Edit: I just looked at the gremlins. Awesome.
-
Crew looks ready to bust out of the swap. Keep the pics coming. They look great. I used a greay t-shirt for my background. just a suggestion.
Thanks! I'll try that next time. I need some better close ups of the individual gremlins. I won't be able to post more pictures until I can get ahold of my brother and his digital camera. I have one around here somewhere, but it's still not unpacked from my last move.
Fun little guys to do conversions on huh? Keep grinding em out! Looking good.Yes, they are. Thank you.
Like the look of the Pig, mind sharing your mix?Sure. I use gamesworkshop paints (with the exception of one), but if you use another brand an equivalent should be easy enough to find.
I undercoated with scorched brown, then did two base coats of bleached bone. I then did a heavy wash of Vallejo's Magenta Fluo. After that I dry brushed on some bleached bone to tone down the bright magenta and washed it with Gryphon Sepia to give it a muddy pig look and tone it down some more. Finally I highlighted the veins and ears with warlock purple and painted the hair with scorched brown, highlighting with snake bite leather.
scorched brown-dark brown
bleached bone-off white
magenta fluo-pink
gryphon sepia-a light brown wash
warlock purple-vibrant purple
snake bite leather-lighter, muddy brown
Wow,, the one with the fidle looks amazing! And how did you do the bases if I may ask? =)
Thanks! The bases are just regular old elmer's glue mixed with dark green paint (gw dark angel's green) with some pete moss stuck in it. I ended up putting on another coat of elmer's glue without any paint to make it a bit more shiney and watery. It dries clear.
Youz stolsed mah ideeuhz!!!!!!!! :irked:JK, awesome job!
Do it to it!!!
~J~
I have taken your ideas and made them mine!
Bwahahaha! Haha...ha....ha...
Ha.
-
So I got my starter box gremlins painted. They were painted in my battle report, but I have since changed the bases:
I also got a new box of gremlins and converted them so they wouldn't all be clones. I got some ideas for conversion here: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9195
I also converted up the gremlin with a telescope to be playing the fiddle. This was actually all me:
One of his eyes will be rather large and bulbous, but that's ok, nothing wrong with a bug-eyed gremlin.
And here are the reinforcements. One gremlin booster (converted), one piglet booster, a hog whisperer and the Zoraida starter pack. I'll show those arcanists next time...

If you don't play 40k, this will make no sense.
Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
Sly Marbo doesn't go to ground, the ground comes to him.
Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed.
Sly Marbo's charge range isn't six inches, it's "demo."
Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped just so his enemies could feel pain.
Sly Marbo may not run during the shooting phase. He may either walk, or kill.
-
Good stuff! I guess the friend was very patient while you took pics and notes .
Was a really fun report.
I can do one or the other, not both usually.
Well, with him stopping to help customers I had plenty of time.
And I hired my little brother to take pics.
And by hired I mean I handed him a camera and said, "You're coming with me." We both took two wounds though.
-
Um... How would this be any different than normal gremlins? How would you possibly tell the difference?
Outsiders can't, but other gremlins surely would. When you're the only gremlin around with one tooth, the others tend to notice. And start licking their lips.
-
I love the heart!
-
"Take a Swig" is not a spell, it's one of Jones's actions.
The gremlin population is limited. Nooo!
-
good job! Yeah SOS can be a bitch, but overall it sounds like a good tourney.
Yeah, when I run warhammer 40k tournaments anything that would normally come to strength of schedule comes down to painting instead.
To the OP: Good job! Thanks for the report.
-
The equation is a little off actually. Remember that you can have mosquitos cast Git Yer Bro as well.
Unfortunately it is a system of diminishing returns as the first 58 (Or less) will slowly die off since Git Yer Bro deals 2Dg to each gremlin.
This is true, although we could adjust the equation to account for mosquitoes casting take a swig to heal the gremlins.
-
Eh, I guess the models are more fragile than GW stuff on the average, but it depends on what you play. Try getting two hive tyrants with four converted devourers on each and 32 hormagaunts to and from the field of battle.
Malifaux movie cast choices!
