If you want tiles or shingles I swear by cardboard from stuff like cereal boxes. Just make sure to keep the printed side down.

So,I'm guessing that there isn't an interior on them.

Ok. That gives me a starting point. Thanks.

I've been meaning to ask you about your buildings. Do you have a plan each one or do you kind of start one and see where it goes? Do you start with the wood portion first? Are you doing it the traditional way with wood over foamcore? How do you get the sag on the roofs? Sorry for all the questions but,I'm trying to build some like these.

Of all the game stores in the US,which do you guys think are the best at supporting Malifaux?

I'm gonna steal that base idea. Nice job.

Thats gonna look cool.

Awesome job man! Wanna see it with the miniature when it is done.

Thanks for all the comments. Don't think I will be leaving it anywhere but my home though.

My daughter is wanting me to build the tree on the back of book one .

Place magnets in its base so it can attach to a thin sheet of steel that fits inside a copy paper box. I'm guessing you could fit two (maybe even three) per box.
I'll give that a shot . Don't know if I'm gonna build many more . One great big one would be cool. One that you could put in the center and it would stretch all across the board.

I want to make one bigger but, since the clay is bake in the oven,I am limited to the size of my oven.
By the way, what do you guys think would be the best way to transport trees like these?

My first attempt at a Malifaux Tree

Thanks guys. As much as I would like to say that it was a huge project,it really wasn't . The molds are Woodland Scenics rocks. Simply mixing the Envirotex adding the color and pouring into the molds. 24 hours to.set and pop them out. I let them dry for a few more days before I mess with them again

It is a two part epoxy resin clear coat mainly used on on wood.

Envirotex with a little Tamiya Clear Blue mixed in.

Looks great. Can't wait to see it up close.

Would a layer of hardener over the top not harden the surface?
I would think that it would be too late but, anything at this point would be worth a shot.
-
You could try super glue over the top of it.I don't know if it would cause some weird chemical reaction though. You could try Envirotex too.Unfortunately, the moe you mess with it the more it doesn't look like what you wanted it to look.

From my experience working with this type of epoxy, once it gets to this state it normally stays that way. When it has happened to me before,I have bitten the bullet and stripped the model down and started over.I don't know how many models you have but, that may be your only recourse.Water effect bases are sometimes a roll of the dice situation.

For me its staying focused on one crew. Hell, I can't make it through the assembly of a crew without getting distracted. The joy is when it all comes together like you wanted.
