  1. Hooray for a great tourney... 10 people showed and we had a great time with a unique shared strategy! Results... 1st: Alric 2nd: Emmett 3rd: Tyler ~J~
  2. Dusty's is hosting our first rules quiz this Monday! I've also uploaded our results for September league at Hat's! ~J~
  3. The US rules book is extremely well translated. Words that could have several meanings in common language terms are unalterably clear in their meaning in the context of the rules. Special ability rules are easy to find, and with about 30 minutes of reading, you could be on your way to playing your first game. Mine only lasted 30 minutes at 100 points! ~J~
  4. Thanks for the first review! I do like Hell Dorado for many of the above reasons... it's EXTREMELY fast-paced, and can feel a bit short, but does encourage re-play and reconfiguration of your army. I also like that the box sets start with 100 points and you cap around 200, with no auspicious mentioning of "giant epic-sized battles" &__& We who play it in Tucson have already made the comparison between the Lost and Space Marines in terms of their obvious badassery and lack of tech, but that's not really a negative so much as it's something to come to terms with and beat with time and effort. ~J~
  5. Without engaging in a bunch of trolling or fan-boy-ing, I'd like to hear some honest reviews (not banter) for the following skirmish games based on their own merits but ONLY IF YOU HAVE PLAYED THEM: - Anima - Freebooter's Fate - Hell Dorado - Infinity - Pulp City Rate any of the above that apply to your past experiences from 1 (crap that should never be played) to 5 (about as fun and well-designed as we already know Malifaux is). Please do not engage in broad rules comparisons, but keep your reviews constrained to what is good/enjoyable about the elements of the game itself when submitting a review. Think a BGG review, not a fan review. Also no arguing! ~J~
  6. Tucson folks informed. Don't be surprised if you see one or two of us (though a few of us are stuck with work that weekend already...) ~J~
  7. Amazing Discoveries hosts a beginner-friendly tournament this September 19th at 5pm! Here's the specs... Fixed crews 25 SS 90 minute rounds (that puts us home by 10!) No Mercenaries from out of faction (although other out-of-faction hiring allowances are OK) $5 entry... store credit prizes or miniature prizes, as determined by turnout and tournament host... Post any questions here if you have them! ~J~
  8. We're officially adding dates for Dusty's (Amazing Discoveries). Don't forget to show up every Monday afternoon/evening for regular league weeks. A prize is awarded each month for league winners! http://www.sportscard-stores.com/store/256/tucson/amazing-discoveries Amazing Discoveries carries the full line of Malifaux products, including Terraclips, and has lots of new players! Hope I'll see you all there... ~J~
  9. Just a small pinch of greenstuff lies between new-pretty Zoraida and total saggification ~J~
  10. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Not the Avatar!!! She JUST GOT HER GROOVE BACK!!!!!!! :'( ~J~
  11. Yes, clearly it must be one of the infected from the QZ. As a study in the ever-improving art of mini-painting meets realism. The only reason you should NOT appreciate this post is if you don't think any painter can rise to the occasion and paint skin to look like this. I'll bet we have at least half a dozen awesome painters on this forum who darn-well COULD. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: This is an official challenge to anyone who thinks they can master the art of painting oiled, tanned-to-death, leathery elephant skin sagging off the bones of the new Zoraida sculpt! REWARD: 1,000,000 Intarnetz. ~J~ p.s. - also puppets put me up to this. they talk to me sometimes... :hidingpuppet
  12. (larfs) - clearly it's the best way to paint Zoraida skin. I'm inspired, frankly ~J~
  13. Ed Ostling and Paul Cafiso take 1st and 2nd in August! Congratulations to our winners. New league next month! ~J~
  14. Congratulations to our winners! 1st place: ARCHER C. (Kirai) 2nd place: NICK W. (Dreamer/LCB) 3rd place: GARRETT L. (Leveticus) Thanks to all who turned out! We've greatly expanded the community of late, and the diversity of interesting crews is absolutely BOOMING as a result! ~J~
  15. Thanks to all those who showed up - we had an awesome time at the Saloon and some of us just didn't want to leave! Big thanks to Romeo for providing awesome prize support (a brown Malifaux bag, and two Malifaux blisters of player-choice) and some awesomely delicious pizza with a dangerous flavor-quotient (according to the label on the box) that somehow miraculously didn't give me indigestion and makes me want more pizza. We'll be back there for future events - the Battle Foam Saloon gets Tucson's seal of approval for being such a friendly, inviting, clean, and impressive environment for our gaming experiences. That and I still owe Romeo a rematch of Dreamer vs. Perdita! ~J~
  16. Just now seeing this... looks like we scheduled events in the valley on the same day - any chance we could coordinate on Facebook or otherwise (PM, for instance) so we know when each other's events are going to be more directly? I was asked to host an event quite last-minute, and I didn't see that I was scheduling this on top of your event. I'd like to be able to send invites between all the stores in Tucson and the Phoenix area so we can expand our mutual Malifaux community, ideally, and FB or PM seems like the way to make it easiest for us. I think we'd have much better turn-outs and way more fun for that extra bit of effort, and I'll do my best to strive for that level of communication in the future if you think it would help. L8rs, ~J~
  17. They're watching right now, so I'm probably risking a lot saying this... If this thread gets locked, deleted, or moderated it's probably a vast centrist-wing conspiracy by the Racist-Goatse Alliance (the same guys behind 9-11, as we all know, but MOST of us won't admit). :paralyzedpuppet:confusedpuppet:stuckpuppet ~J~

  21. Another week and a half to go in August - lots of blood is being spilled... In recent battlefield news, Colette just lost an interesting battle of attrition to Lady Justice in a very epic game, and McMourning's lifeless corpse and total lack of remaining minions won a pyrrhic victory over an elite force of guild and mercenaries! ~J~
