I know twas a joke but in all seriousness, there is a difference between the two. Faux anime is almost always ugly, anime only sometimes...

Hooked sword are east Asian/Indian. Tripping people, getting beneath armor plates, hooking people off horses. Curves have many uses and I am a fan.

And Faux Japanese as an art style not as the nationality the models weapons/armor are based off of.

First off.....you have to assume that he can swing around something that looks like it ways 10x as much as a sledge hammer. Now...go try to swing around a sledge hammer.

The edge of the sword has a weird optical illusion to it. Towards the base it looks like the sharp side is pointing upwards. However, as it moves upward, it looks like it is now flat and moving into the hooked part.

I think World of Warcraft is oozing out into the rest of culture just a bit too much these days with the way that armor and weapons look.

It's actually the faux Japanese style. WoW has it, as does Warmachine (Mostly in concept art but the elven stuff always looks faux anime). It's very popular these days and sadly has invaded most geekdom (Like Anima Tactics for example). I wish it wasn't for besides in rare circumstances I'm not a fan (Except kingdom under Fire which I find reaches a good middle ground).

Does anyone else remember when Warcraft was basically warhammer? Ah Orcs vs Humans...

I love the concept behind spinespur a lot. But they really need better painters. Presentation can make or break a model...

I gotta admit I really like the elector count. And I love the empire look in general. It's a nice change from middle ages fantasy to see something renaissance....

Though I must admit the greatswords are indeed rubbish. The old ones are better.

Excellent minis. It's kind of sad. I see all these great minis and no game designed for them. A shame...

So Alkemy's a really good game? I was curious why I heard about it so much. The models are so meh compared to so many.

But then I think I may be crazy. My local gaming group is starting up Heavy Gear and are talking about how pretty the minis are. This confuses me greatly...

Agh, the stereotypical Newfie accent, how I loathe it. No one from the city (St. John's) talks like that. It's a rural thing.
