  1. All my bases are cast in urethane resin and are virtually bubble free..

I say virtually because you might es a small bubble on the underside but never on the top.Wont effect the base at all.

All are cast with perfectly flat bottoms also so no sanding required to make them level..just a very minimal flash clean up on the edge and your good to go.

I do recommend a good wash with a dish detergent to remove mold release and a quality primer.

  3. Apply with some sort of putty knife as others have mentioned..then take a piece of damp sponge..like you get in miniatures packages.. really wring out the water now sort of stipple/pat the Spackel until it makes a nice pattern. You can also sprinkle little bits of sand into it to make texture.

When you buy the stuff, read ingredients..some Spackel had acrylic vinyl in it..this should adhere to plastic bases easier than normal plaster like Spackel .

I have a tub of the resin sand mix that Vallejo makes..works nice for basing and sticks to the plastic bases well. A tub will cost you $10.00 or less and easily do that 100+ bases.

  4. Thanks for the posting, I agree whole heatedly with what people say about some bases being to cluttered. From the beginning I've tried to design stuff that a person can base up an army with out any converting needed to get figures to fit. I make each one with the idea of where a figure will sit on it.

I also try to give a variety of designs so that the final army doesn't have the "sameness: look to it. At last thats always been my goal.

  5. I just ignore it..

He or she not sure if we have determined that yet.. could be giving me the ultimate meaning of life and I'm going to miss out for sure.. but I have to agree with most..cute yes in short bursts..long paragraphs its childish and annoying.

I'm glad its not an issue on other forums I'm on where in the forum rules state , NO l337 speak is allowed.. Nips it right in the bud.

  6. DF,

You say that for now all you are going to be offering is the simple stained cube. You think you will ever venturing into shaped plinths? Or since I would be wanting a shaped piece, and would therefore have to restain it after shaping, are you going to offer non stained for less?

No thats just what these are..simple finished square plinths..for that price thats what you get.

I can make anything, price is according to materials, time and complexity. I was just getting requests for simple cube plinths that seem to be the in thing right now with the Europeans and now over here as more people pick up on it.

Ive been making bases for 5 years now and have done every conceivable design for people..many god awful too in my opinion but hey if you want to pay Ill make it. I think I have a couple slayer sword winners parked atop wood babes I made and countless golds. Not saying my bases had anything to do with it but hey id like to think so LOL

I may offer a simple painted black cube plinth soon too. I'm just looking for things to make that are simple to make in numbers.. as things get complex they get more expensive.

    Jeff

  7. I really need to get a good mini carrying box/case. Nigel had a great one at GD with a shoulder strap. Might ask to see if the blokes at my dads work can build one.

Matty, if they do any cabinet making or have wood working equipment then they can probably hook you up.

I made mine for myself and once I showed a few friends I figured Id offer them for sale to others.

To be honest for the average GD or painting contest it probably too bit. If your going to transport many pieces like Jeremie does its ideal.

I could make a box any size really if people wanted a larger or smaller one. I did this one to fit in carry on baggage and carry a lot.

If I build the battle scene entry I want Ill probably have to build a box just for it.
