  1. Hey all! I haven't really been on the forums in quite a while. Just getting around to kicking the dust off of some of the models and giving the game another go after being gone for over 4 years. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's evolved!

  2. A little off of the norm, but I would drop both Punks and Sebastian in favor of Bete and more dogs. The Canine Remains really shine when they attack in packs, gaining their (1) Charge as well as losing insignificant. Bete's versatility cannot be underestimated. Her attack is brutal, she gains Fast very easily, she is a paralyzing machine, and she is nearly impossible to keep down when used properly.

Activate your Canine Remains first to form a screen, as well as forcing your opponent to activate most, if not all of his models before McM or the Belle's go. Use the Belle's to chain lure one of your opponent's key models. McMourning can then do a little Scalpel-Slingin' to get into melee range with the model. Then use his remaining actions to butcher them. Bete replaces a Canine Remain or Belle that is in a prime position, and harasses the enemy's tougher models. McMourning and the Belles continue isolating enemies and destroying them, while McMourning also pops out the occasional Flesh Construct.

This tactic is fairly simple, and is insanely effective. Give it a try!

  3. Although the number of terrain pieces may be a little low, I feel that an exception must be made on the principle that those little foam houses are absolutely adorable.

In all due seriousness, Q'iq'el makes some good points. Some small covering terrain pieces would fit in nicely if you have access to them.

I can definitely understand not having enough terrain or space. My first games of 40K were played with a 4x6 piece of green felt spread out over school books!

  4. Hey everyone, We will be hosting a Malifaux demo at Sci-

Fi City, located at Knoxville Center Mall. We will be starting at 5pm and going on until 9pm. Either bring your own crew, or we can provide you pretty much anything that you are looking for. Terrain and tables will be provided by the guys at Sci-Fi.

This is open to any number of people, and any skill level (1st timers are encouraged!).

For directions on how to get to the shop, send me a message, give them a call at (865) 523-4700.

    Hope to see you there!

  5. Long before the strategy/opponent, I will pick out a Master, and whatever crew I feel will be entertaining to play with (and against). The only time that I really look at my opponent is when they are an inexperienced player. I will make some adjustments if my list seems like it will either steamroll over them, or just wouldn't be a fun mix (like taking a construct only list against Kirai).

  8. Whereabouts, Nashvlle? There was a gaming convention here in town this past weekend, but I didn't hear of any miniature gaming action.

I'm about three hours East of Nashville- between Knoxville and Pigeon Forge.

I'm not too familiar with the Memphis Gaming Cons. You are probably already aware, but you are about 7-8 hrs drive away from both GenCon (indianapolis) and Dragon Con (Atlanta). Both are generally late Summer/ Early Fall.

  9. I don't know if it was the worst, but I can tell you the funniest time i flipped the Black Joker. I was playing against a Neverborn crew that was fielding a Doppleganger. I was being frustrated the whole game over being forced to flip a :-fate for initiative each turn. At a critical moment in the game, I flipped the first initiative card and got the Red Joker. My dreams of crushing my opponent died fast however, when the follow up was the Black Joker.

    McMourning died early that turn.

    Badly.

  10. You are right, unless the card says otherwise, you can only connect a Master to one totem.

Another model to look at in a McMourning list is the Rotten Belles. I always run with at least 1, and usually 2 Belles. A McMourning crew is very heavy on melee, but not very effective at ranged attacks. 2 Belles set up correctly can Lure an individual opponent 4 times in a single turn. Combine this with McMourning's Scalpel Slingin', and against a mode with a Movement of 4, you can effectively create a 22" threat range, with 4 Surgical Implement attacks on the target. With the Belle's increased Ca stat, the spell will be effective more often than not.

However, in a 25ss crew, I wouldn't take both Bette and Sebastian. Together, they will run you 15ss, or 60% of your crew cost. A solid Rezzer tactic is to play a numbers game. In a perfect world, your opponent will need to activate all of his models before you. This allows you a strong tactical advantage. As a basic 25ss McMouring list, I typically go with:

    McMourning

    Zombie Chihuahua

    Sebastian

    (2x) Rotten Belles

    (5x) Canine Remains

With 10 models in this list, your opponent should run out of models long before you will. Utilize the Canine Remains to form a screen in front of the rest of your crew. After your Canine Remains and Chihuahua have gone, utilize the Belles to lure over one of your opponent's nastiest model (who has already acted). McMourning can then use (0)Scalpel Slingin' to pull himself into melee range. There is no non-Master model (and few Masters for that matter) that McMourning cannot take out with 4 attacks. Just be careful not to leave him too exposed afterward.

After Turn 1, it becomes a swarm attack from McMourning and company, with the Canine Remains leading the charge. Once McMourning makes it into a comfortable melee, he can begin using his (0) action to start bringing out Flesh Constructs. The Belles still act in a support role, plucking out enemy models for McMourning and/or Sebastian to take out each turn.

  13. You put a lot of time and effort into this. I have only made it a little over halfway through reading it, but I'll definitely come back to finish it.

I would caution you with your Treasure Hunt tactic though. Any action other than a Walk will cause a model to drop the Treasure Counter, so you couldn't Lure them with it.

Other that that, good job and I look forward to reading through the rest!
