  1. Not sure if I ever told you, your Taxi-Jacks back a few years ago are what inspired me to start pushing the boundaries of my own painting skills to where they are pretty decent today when I take the time to work on a "show piece". I still have a lot to work on to get to your level, but you pushed me in that direction.

    ;)

That's always nice to hear. The ol' Taxis are still my most recognized stuff, and I still have people telling me that they liked them and that they inspired them. They certainly made an impact on me and my evolving painting style, and it good to see they impacted some others in a small way also.

  2. Hey, I think FFG will be just a few booths away.

Except I'll be in the event hall this year. Would have been convenient, though.

Hey Bex do you know if FFG is releasing, or putting out early, any thing cool this year? I was kicking myself for not getting Red November last year, and I don't want to do something similar this year. Ad Astra maybe? I suppose it is to much to hope for a really really early pre release of Middle Earth Quest

  3. I liked the Hamelin sculpt too.... until I actually got it and held it in my hands. It is far to small far to fiddly and has pretty poor detail. I really do think it might be the worst Wyrd sculpt still being sold (may the bowling vampire rest in peace). It really is a testament to the brilliance of official paint job that it can make the mini look halfway decent.

Personally hope they the do remake him (crosses fingers for a Buddle version). Conceptually Hamelin is awesome, but the execution in the current mini is lacking.

  4. Having now painted most of the box sets, of those three, I would say Nicodem. That group's models just have so much character, especially Nicodem, and Mortimer. For me they really offered up the most in painting enjoyment (after a very fiddly construction phase on the zombies).

Pandora's group is OK. I think there biggest down side is that they are so small they really offer less area for a painter to go nuts. To me the only piece that really stands up in a big way is the avatar form. But If you looking to do some cools special effect this would be a pretty good choice.

I'm not crazy about the Victorias. For me one fo the best aspects of painting on the group/crew/army scale is that you crate something that looks like it all belongs together. I like stuff that doesn't look like a bunch of individuales that are stuck together, I like them all to really like that belong together visually. All the models in the Victorias group are so different that I will be difficult to bring that cohesive feel to them.

Over all my favorites have been Nicodem, Lilith, and the Witchhunters. But I rather liked the Beastmasters, and Seamus too.

  5. Hooray! The Traveling Court of the Brownie king is finally coming out. I've been hoping to get my hands on that one for awhile.

Seemingly my frustration with one of my favorite sculptors, the fantastic Mr. White, continues however. For a while now he has put out a steady stream of new releases in a styles and themes I really couldn't care less about. But if it makes him happy more power to him. That's a big perk to having your own mini company. So I guess I'll continue to wait and hope for something that really grabs me again.

  6. The scientist is pretty cool. The rest is just pretty standard Reaper fare (yawn).

Tell me does anyone actually play the Warlord game? Or is the majority of it still being used in people D&D games? A pretty steady stream seems to always be coming out, but I'm not really sure what kind of new product release structure or schedule the game has.
