Grab and Drop + Flare gives her piles of schemes, and for 1 SS I've never regretted it.

 

She's an Arcanist, and we get some pretty awesome upgrades. I take Arcane Reservoir and Imbued Energies if I have nothing better planned.

 

As for her niche, she's a generalist. She can do everything well, but not as well as the specialists.

They are probably all great. They hav vastly different roles though. Rail golem is a melee beast to run in and bash enemies in the head. Firestarter enhances kaeris burning and the captain is an awesome toolbox. Only tried captain and firestarter once each though. But yeah i can totally see the captain in a lot of kaeris crews. Moves people around, gives out burning, creates cover and smashes people. He's a real utility model. Just have to find myself proxy :)

I've actually had fun using her as a tank.  Imbued Protection brings her up to Df 7 and coupled with Armor +1, SS, and a healing totem, she can take a lot of punishment for a good while.  It also puts her in position for the mid-to-short-range game, which she does really well with.

 

I'm also a fan of the Firestarter.  He's a steal for his price, although you have to be careful with him as he has no way outside of SS to stop damage.  Also, I Did It! just gives me a happy.

If I hypothetically make a 50ss crew using the following models:

 

Kaeris

Eternal Flame

Fire Gamin

Fire Gamin

Fire Gamin

Gunsmith

Gunsmith

The Firestarter

Rail Golem

 

That leaves me with 4ss for upgrades, what upgrades would be nice to give Kaeris, The Firestarter and Rail Golem? Also, is this even a good crew to use?

 

Also, is Willie a good addition to her crew?

I love kaeris she's tough hands out a lot of burning and a fair bit of damage only time she's died is when I flew her into the middle of a gremlins crew to stop them getting entourage. To be fair I'm pretty new as are my mates I've been playing against are too so I'm sure I'll find more difficulties later on but right now it seems like there's nothing she can't do!

I, for one, am a bit miffed that Willie isn't an Enforcer so I can put Imbued Energies on him, but I'm sure it was for good reason haha

 

I take it, however, that people are finding a lot of synergy between Kaeris's thematics, Ramos's thematics, and Mei Fengs, thematics? I;m just genuinely curious of the concept of thematic arcanist synergy since, beyond that (and perhaps Ironsides), it almost seems a bit lacking... :P

Honestly, I often use 2SS to give the Rail Golem 5 Df. That little bump is usually an extra turn of Rail Golem for me.
