Somer, Sammy, and Pig Feed?

Hey all,

So something I've been interested in since I saw Sammy appear in the Wave 2 open beta, but which I've unfortunately not had the time/opportunity to put on the table yet, is whether or not Sammy can make good use of Pig Feed out of a Somer list without compromising his summoning capabilities?

I feel that Pig Feed was added to Somer's repertoire in Wave 1 beta primarily because it's what the players wanted (read: demanded practically), myself included.  But--as is bizarrely often the case--what the players wanted and what was needed don't always align.  Somer is so fantastic at supporting Gremlins via Family Tree, Encouragement, Do It Like This! etc. that I find it very hard to fit in enough pigs to make Pig Feed worthwhile.  This is compounded by the fact that Somer rarely ventures forward enough for me to make it appealing too.

Enter Sammy stage right.

My thought is that Sammy very much wants to be up-and-about given the low range on Jynx and the usefulness of Putrefy.  She's also extremely fast and pretty durable (I hear Df 7 with Bayou Two Card and Use Soulstone is a real thing).

So the question becomes if I want to run Pigs in my Somer list, which I think there is real value in doing as a forward-force to protect your summoning engine, is Sammy + Pig Feed a better option than a Hog Whisperer (since I feel there isn't enough room in a typical Somer list to use both very well without compromising everything else he wants to do)?

For 3ss more you get/lose:

- Get better overall stats.

- Get more universally useful utility actions (Jynx/Putrefy/Winds of Fate)

- Get Pig Feed action.

- Lose Stick 'Em for Reactivate.

- Lose Sooey!

Overall, here is a general 50ss list that I'm toying with (not really sure exactly what strat/schemes I like it for, but I think it has promise with several):

Somer (4ss Cache)

- Family Tree (2ss)

- Encouragement (2ss)

Skeeter (2ss)

Lenny (9ss)

- I'll Love It and Pet It... (1ss)

Sammy (7ss)

- Pig Feed (1ss)

Bayou Gremlin (3ss)

Bayou Gremlin (3ss)

Bayou Gremlin (3ss)

Slop Hauler (5ss)

12ss Remaining for Pigs

I'm liking maybe 3x Piglets or 2x Wild Boars with those final points, though I see value in running Gracie with Lenny for something like Turf War or Reckoning.  Alternatively I could see maybe dropping Encouragement to squeeze in a 2nd Slop Hauler with 2x Piglets.

Three things I like about the 2x Wild Boar option:

1.) You don't necessarily need the 2nd Slop Hauler for healing support due to Eat Your Fill/Eat Anything.

2.) Due to self-healing you can more safely hit them in the rump with Lenny's Whacked Piglet to summon off them while worrying less about the self-inflicted damage.

3.) They get their On Edge bonus to any attacks generated by Pig Feed.

So the general premise would be to have Somer do his normal thing, summon Gremlins and hit them in the head with rocks while the Slop Hauler heals them up.  Meanwhile Sammy, Lenny, a Skeeter, and their Pigs move forward to contest the enemy for early-game positioning and objectives.  The Skeeter is primarily there to lend Lenny the :tomes he needs to summon Piglets off his upgrade, though it's a versatile totem if you need to jam or stop certain trigger options in the opposing crew.

Sammy should try to be a general nuisance with Jynx while also boosting the offensive capabilities of the initial Pigs you bring (plus any you summon with Lenny).  Lenny does...well what Lenny does.  He protects Sammy with his psuedo-armor, summons Piglets, and provides a launching-to point for summoned Gremlins to run up to and "go bang" with Dumb Luck.

Anyway, thoughts?  Has anyone else considered running a list like this and where do you think it will perform well or poorly?

I'm still on the fence with Lenny as a pig summoning tool. I tried him out with "I'll love it and pet it" recently and found that the resources used in:

-giving him a tomes that will hit the target

-potentially cheating down the damage flip to summon the piglet

-and that piglet subsequently taking 1/2/4 damage,

simply ended up not being worth it at the time. However I do see the merits in theory. Lenny stayed back for me and is more or less stationary allowing the bayou gremlins free use of his abilities without over-committing. I summoned 4 piglets that game, all through Somer and his pig sticker, which came in at full wounds.

All around the list looks very solid. I'm a huge fan of the skeeters for passing out +2 Wp from Liquid Bravery and "down the hatch", especially against Ressers or Pandora, but I think you'd probably be fine without it here.

Let me know if you have any tips for using Lenny as a summoning tool. I'm probably doing the things wrong. :D

You say the list has potential (I wouldn't say its optimal. In Som'er lists, I don't think Sammy is that much of a bargain really. More bodies or a cheaper beater is more valuable) for most strats. I'd be inclined to agree, but it does suffer in Reckoning (obviously) and I think the summoning spam is more efficient in Recon.

I guess it'd be alright in Squatter's Rights. But I think that is down to the inane abilities of the pieces within the list, rather than any type of a whole.

Som'er or a Skeeter can easily provide the required :tome for the trigger via Do it like Dis!. After that it is all about the target model (read as friendly sacrificial pawn) relenting the attack to incur the :-fate :-fate damage flip (increasing the likelihood of the Weak damage flip). The damage to the piglet (and target) is easily healed by a Slop Hauler that is already probably sitting in the list anyway. This is especially worthwhile if you hired a Pigapult and use it for the Whacked Piglet attack.

One of the big keys is timing with this though and out activation definitely helps with that.
