AgentRock
Some musings on the subject of minions and enforcers with a look at their general utility for the faction as a whole. http://midwestmalifaux.blogspot.com/2014/01/wave-2-beta-ten-thunders.html Comments welcome. Matney X
I feel about the same way you do about 10T Brothers. I got them for Christmas, this year, and I honestly don't know if I'll ever field them (at least, not with Mei).
tadaka
Few points. Izamu: The 1.5 terror that was Izamu the Armor obviously couldn’t stay as nuts as he was after a reset, so perhaps it's no surprise that he managed to stay controversial throughout much of the beta process, with threads of malcontents griping about him all the way to the final day. I have to say, I don’t get what people were expecting. He’s tough. He hits hard. He has a self-heal on a (0) His heal is a 1 action not a 0. I would have been compleatly happy with him if his heal was a 0 action. Unfortunetly it is a 1. One imagines Ototo and, say, Sidir passing it back and forth and being on positive flips for the whole game The upgrade can only be moved to a minion model. Best you can get is Illuminated. with Lynch (discard your aces, pick them back up, repeat) but could be useful in certain situations for other crews. I don’t think it was intentional design symmetry with Lynch, particularly since he's already pretty good anyways, but I like it all the same. After all, where else would you expect to find a Wastrel if not in a brothel like the Honeypot? Unfortunetly out side of generic totem you have no way of getting an upgrade on this minion. With out an upgrade they do not get to draw a card from the ace ditch. They still get the suit tho.You can however give up on huggy get them an upgrade and make some mini card drawing machines through the totem if you so wish. Can you say 14 cards in hand and using woke up with a hand. My friends master the other day felt the pain of a one shot master
chris_havoc
I think you've left out one major player in your list and that is Toshiro. He is great in any crew and he allows access to great minion models. Good resilience, good support, good melee, and he can summon with his upgrade. All around good. AgentRock
Was staying away from Henchmen in this. Figured they deserved more individual attention. Also, for Tadaka, you're probably right on the other stuff, but with Lynch I was just saying that you can discard the Aces and pick them back up with his abilities. You don't draw more off of that, but you it doesn't cost anything anyways.
tadaka
Its all good. Just a few things that stuck out to me. Its a good read tho.
Anaxiamander
One imagines Ototo and, say, Sidir passing it back and forth and being on positive flips for the whole game The upgrade can only be moved to a minion model. Best you can get is Illuminated. There is another option for "best", and that's Wastrels. Their (2) Castoffs Tactical Action allows them to transfer all Upgrades they have to another model, whether Minion or not. So it's possible to have Enforcers, Henchmen, or even Masters to be passing this discardable Upgrades around, as long as you're using a Wastrel as an intermediary (which takes a full activation and a 6+, even if they happen to get a small effect from it as well). Using the Wastrel intermediary will help keep the Wastrel alive to boot, with the 2 healing received from the Kamaitachi (and the occasional healing from Castoffs). It does, however, require some bunching together, which the Upgraded Illuminated don't have to worry about.
tadaka
I would not rank that as best. Your paying a 4 stone tax on totem, Then a 4 stone tax for wastral, and an iluminated and then the 2 models you want to switch it to. Fact is you would be spending a ton of stones for a combo that can very easly be broken up by killing a d4 model. Let me know how that pans out for you in an actual game. AgentRock
True, though I wouldn't put this with Lynch anyways. Since you can only have one totem, and, well, you know, he already has one.

I don't think I was quite clear on what I meant. I meant, as opposed to simply using the Kamaitachi to transfer the upgrades from an Enforcer/Henchman to an Illuminated, one could have two Enforcer/Henchmen that could have the Upgrade passed between them via the Wastrel. Also, my putting "best" in quotes is only referring to "best target for Kamaitachi to have the Upgrade pass off", not best overall. I'm eager to have a chance to actually see if the occasional Wastrel-passing will work effectively on the table, though, and will let you know my results.
