Welcome one and all to Somer Faux.
Oz (Oathius) and myself will be putting on another event this year after the seeming success of Isle of Faux (no one died, the place didn’t burn down and spooner got the wooden spoon)
The format will remain very similar to Isle of Faux so with no further ado the date for Somer Faux is . . . . . .

As mentioned above, registration starts at 09:00am and the first game is due to start at 09:30am. We have brought this forward to alleviate timing issues we encountered at Isle of Faux. There will be a lunch break between games 2 and 3.
Once all the games have been played there will be a presentation ceremony to hand out the prizes.

Welcome to Som’erfaux the biggest and best tournament in the South East of England in August in Thanet for Malifaux  . . . .

What to Expect

4 rounds of Malifaux – 50ss

110 minutes a game (this includes crew selection so be quick)

You will get a last turn warning at 20 minutes

A final call will be given for last activation

The Rules of Malifaux

Each game is played using Malifaux 2nd Edition (M2E) and the most recent FAQ and Errata Document (available at www.wyrd-games.net). When new documents are published they come into effect for events held two weeks (14 calander days) after their publication.

For example an Errata published on the 7th of June will come into effect for events starting from the 21st of June.

Tournament Organizer

Austin and I (Ben) are your Tournament Organisers for the day,

The TO is the sole authority at the M2E Tournament.

TOs are expected to be fair and equitable in their adjudication of debates and rules questions. (Beer may sway our decision)  Regardless of the outcome, a TO’s decision is final. Players are encouraged to work out simple rules disputes among themselves because the round clock does not stop while waiting for the TO to answer questions.

Player Responsibility

Players are responsible for providing:

• Crew models

• Rulebooks and official Wyrd Stat Cards

• A Fate Deck (one with Malifaux Suits) If you have a ‘special’ unofficial deck please check with your opponent before use (legibility sake etc)

• Measuring tape

• Appropriate Counters/Markers/Tokens

Sportsmanship

Malifaux is designed to be fun for all players. Players are expected to behave civilly and respectfully at all times. When asked, players should provide the information and statistics for models as well as any relevant additional public information. Players must be open and honest about the rules of their models. Activations should be played in a timely manner, players should not waste time.

Warning System

Players are given a single warning when the TO judges their behaviour toward other players or the TO to be unacceptable. If the behaviour persists, and the TO determines the player to be a disruption to the tournament, it is within the TO’s authority to disqualify the player from the tournament. Don’t be that player.

Cheating

There is zero tolerance for cheating (other than Cheating Fate, which is, of course, encouraged). If the TO determines that a player is cheating, the player will be immediately disqualified from the tournament. For details of disqualification see the disqualification section below.

Conversions & Proxies

Proxies? Go for it but it is at your opponents discression, make sure they are easy for the opponent to recognise and bring along the correct model with you just in case

Stat and Upgrade Cards

Players must physically possess the official up-to-date versions of stat cards for organised play. The cards may be photo-copied from the Malifaux 2nd Edition rulebook, or printed from an official digital release (such as with cards that have official errata).

Painting Rules

Painted models is preferred but if the odd model is of the silver or grey colour scheme then that can be forgiven.

Check In

We are kicking off registration at 9

Round Pairings

First round will be randomly drawn, after the first round, the TO pairs players based on their

Tournament Point (TP) scores. Players will always play other players with similar TP scores. After round one, and continuing for all rounds, players with higher TPs should be paired off against one another, while players with lower TPs will be paired off against one another. In the event of multiple ties, pairings should attempt to be made by similar Differential scores and then VP scores. No two players should play each other twice in the space of three rounds. So for example two players who met in round one could not meet again until round four.

Scoring

At the end of each Round, players count the VPs they earned that during the Encounter. The player that earned the most VPs wins the Encounter. When each player earns the same VPs, the Encounter is a Draw. The number of Tournament Points a player receives depends on if he or she Wins, Draws, or Loses the Encounter.

Tournament Points [TP]

A player who wins the Encounter earns 3 TP, while a player who loses earns 0 TP. Players who draw earn 1 TP. Tournamnet Points are used to determine the winner of the Tournament (and final standings) with ties broken by Differential and VP (see below).

The Round Reporting Sheet has a place for the players to note whether they won, loss, or drew. Example: Emma has won her game against Josh, and receiving 3 TP. Josh earns 0 TP for the loss.

Byes and Scoring

As per gaining grounds

Conceded Games

If a player concedes, the opposing player earns a score of 3 TP/+10 DIFF/10 VP for the round.

Forfeited Games

As per gaining grounds

Disqualification

As per gaining grounds

Strategies & Schemes

Unlike standard games of Malifaux 2nd Edition, games will not be played with randomized Strategies or Scheme pools at each table. Instead, every table will play the same Strategy and will choose Schemes from the same Scheme Pool.

Strategy

Each round will have a unique, pre-determined Strategy.

Round 1 - Reconoiter

Round 2 - Stake a Claim

Round 3 – Reckoning

Round 4 - Squatter's Rights

Scheme Pool

Will be announced on the day

Deployment

Round 1 - Standard Deployment

Round 2 - Flank Deployment

Round 3 - Standard Deployment

Round 4 - Corner Deployment

Final Standings

Once the last round of the tournament is complete the TO will calculate and the final standings. Players are ranked from highest to lowest as follows;

•First players are ranked by their Tournament

Points (TP), so players with higher TP finish above those with lower TP.

•Players who have the same TP as each other are then ranked by their Differential (Diff).

•Finally players who are still tied are ranked by their Victory Points (VP).

Yeaaaah get signed up folks! Also toying with the idea of a spitroast for after the 3rd round whilst the scored are totaled etc so if there is enough interest we will go ahead, it may mean another £5 or so but should be well worth it.
