Just starting Sonnia. Is this a good shopping list?

Hey guys! I'm definitely picking up Sonnia and here is the shopping list I'm looking at. 1x Alternative Sonnia, 2x3 Witchling Stalkers, 1x Freikorps Specialist. I also have the olllld Dead Justice box set and plan on using those beautiful beautiful Death Marshals and I have two austringers (gotta find them though q.q). Another question I have is if I were to buy those models would they come with the updated cards or would I have to buy the Arsenal Box as well?

Is this your list in addition to a Sonnia crew box, or are you starting from scratch? As each box (the metal and the plastic) is obviously a good start and will contain Sam Hopkins, who is very worthwhile Henchman, and the new plastic box will also include Sonnia's totem, Purifying Flame. The new plastics will contain new cards, but any metals will not. Even if you get the cards from the new crew box, it will not contain the generic Guild upgrade cards that are only available through the arsenal deck currently.

You will likley want at least one or two more Stalkers if you are going to be spawning the via the upgrade, Specialist is good for another source of burning and Austringers work seemingly great any Guild crew because they are just that good that specific synergies are not necessary to justify their inclusion.

I ended up picking up the Arsenal box so I'm glad I wont be missing out on the new rules...These are the loose models not the box, I just really dislike Sams model atm and I liked alternate Sonnia so I figured I'd just buy the separate models and add them to the guild stuff I already have. (Lucius box, austringers, Dead Justice box) I also have a lot of the Outcasts as that was my faction before I stopped playing a while ago so I could use a lot of Mercenaries.

I might consider picking up either a Lady J or Ortega box also. Most of the models in those boxes are usable by her and make good additions.

The Lady J box mainly for Judge.....DMs are good, but you probably won't truly need them....but Judge is a fantastic versatile Henchman....he is pretty tough and survivable and can lay out some serious hurt...both at range and close. (The new plastic Judge is just amazing...but you might be able to get just the old metal one if you want him).

The Ortega box gives you Santiago....which is a great mid-range shooter...and Nino...although you might be happier with an Austringer if you want long-range support....but what it really gives you is Francisco....(again, you may be able to find the metal version if you just want him)....his +2 Df buff is great for Sonnia...so she can use her +2 buff for her CA....his other great ability lets him engage an enemy and push all friends out of the engagement...which is a boon for Sonnia who wants to be shooting......

'Cisco can get expensive, because I would take his personal upgrade (to make him more resilient) and Diestro....it's expensive, but it allows you to ignore him when shooting...which goes hand in hand with the above ability to push his friends out of combat. With his upgrades he is pretty survivable...especially in melee....and he is both a good ranged and/or melee guy (like Judge).

If you don't like the metal Sam (and I am with you on that) it might still be worthwhile to pick up the plastic box Witch Hunters box, as Sam is really great with Sonnia (and the Stalkers for a low stone Henchman game) and I am not sure he will be available outside of the box set at any point. Additionally, you will get any more Witchling Stalkers you might need (since that will have you at six), and Sonnia's totem, so the only model in the box you won't be sing would be Sonnia herself, and even she could be punted on eBay to someone that fancies the masked version.

I like the idea of running Judge or Cisco and having the zombie judge model makes it fun....and yeah I most likely will still pick up the plastic box if I like the Sam it has I haven't actually seen it yet. I love the model for the witchling handler but I know shes in beta right now and Id rather just wait till shes been finalized before picking her up. My next pickup is definitely Lady J and The Ortegas after that. I'm excited to play the Guild this time around!

Right now, Gaurdian is looking like a decent secondary purchase, but is still in beta.

Fransisco is a great add as well. You are probably going to mix DMs with Witchlings, just because witchlings are kind of slow. Really, I think Sonnia players are going to want to look at fast objective grabber models over killing models, just because With SOnnia and Sam, they have enough killing power that they don't need another so much.

Is there a date as to when you can get single models again ?

I was thinking of getting some of the metal ones but think most of the new range loog better.

If you are referring to the plastics, it is unclear whether models will be available as singles if they are available in a crew box. There have already been "multi-minion" boxes independent of crew boxes, like the belles, arachnids, etc., but very few single models available that are also in a crew box, only Cojo and Sabertooth from Markus' box spring to mind. So, if you are waiting on a single plastic Sam, it might not come.

If you are referring to metal blisters of singles from the Wyrd store, it's my understanding that if they are gone, they are gone. You'll have to pick them up from an alternate vendor or the secondary market.

I think the Instructions page is probably very telling of what you will and will not see sold separately.
