brib4169
not sure if this belongs here or in the Miniatures Matters section... I have a painting / escalation M2E league coming up in the immediate future and I am planning on taking Pandora et al. I have all the models already. I actually proxy apparitions (http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Apparitions.html) for sorrows as I never really liked the intended models. My biggest problem now, is that I have the old poltergeist and need the new (50mm super-sized) one. Don't really want to re-buy the crew box, and I'm pretty sure they are not going to sell the new poltergeist separate. I know I could get creative and make a cool base for the old one, but I'm kinda feeling a proxy coming on. I like to spread my love all over the gaming community. There was only one mention in another post. So I figured I'd start one. So I got to looking and here is what I have found so far... feel free to add to this list or shoot down any if you have experience with any of them. http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/cryx/solos/machine-wraith - the bottom half would need a little liquid green stuff to make it less mech and more spirit, but definitely doable https://cipher-studios.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_44&products_id=680&zenid=i6p3krpjr5psiuccla0nj8e9i0 - hack the staff off at the top to make it fit in my box and cover up the leg in the back and actually a pretty close fit. https://cipher-studios.com/store/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=571&zenid=i6p3krpjr5psiuccla0nj8e9i0 and https://cipher-studios.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_43&products_id=660&zenid=i6p3krpjr5psiuccla0nj8e9i0 - cool effects on these but not sure they are what I want, and the Arabian thing doesn't fit Pandora very well, these are on the bottom of my list http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/02252 - simple yet effective, just not sure of the size, looks kinda small http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/MOURNGUL.html - saw this in another post as a proxy, sweet model, maybe too big? https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/wraith-1.html - can't remember if Pandora had any interaction with the east but this has a nice asian theme https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/astrakhan-1-35-scale.html - this one is actualy steampunk... go figure, something that has been missing a lot in the latest sculpts https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-greater-storm-elemental-1.html - there was a non-clear version of this too, the clear has possibilities. it's supposed to be big, but not sure how big feel free to add to this list or shoot down any if you have had experience with any of the above. dmeep
Of the PP range id say the Kovas or Void spirit from SKorne is a better choice then the machine spirit, the whole bottom half is mostly guitar strings / cables The Smartmax one is 54mm scale so its going to be big The forgeworld one is based on a 50x50mm square base but it is very tall afaik so youll likely have to get a separate bag for it (or a nice plastic bag) The bushido Wraith comes with a 50mm base while Charon from helldorado comes on a 40mm base but hes certainly large enough to fit on a 50mm while not feeling lonely. Id personally avoid the cryx machine spirit and go for the dark age air caste draygir in clear resin just ad some houshold objects/debreis and you have a classic poltergeist
Joel
The forgeworld one fits in the bottom section of my battlefoam malifaux bag rather well actually It's tall on the table and goes on a round 50mm base without fuss. if I could work out how to make my iPad put pics here, I would. Joel
Ok, why is that upside down???
Bruglyother
Ok, why is that upside down??? Because it wanted to have a good time. I had to do a double take because your RG looks enough like mine that I was wondering how it ended up in the UK.
bjorkgnu
I'm digging the clear one. Maybe a light drybrush of white on the edges just to make it stand out a little more?
brib4169
Thanks for the input, I'd like to keep this thing in the 3"-5" height range, I can go taller, but it won't travel as securely (have to travel on it's side). Id personally avoid the cryx machine spirit and go for the dark age air caste draygir in clear resin just ad some houshold objects/debreis and you have a classic poltergeist - I like the void spirit (like the CMON wraith but better), too bad he is so small (website says he is on a 30mm). Not a big fan of hte Kovas model, it might make a decent sorrow, but I'm still not feeling it. - a little liquid green stuff would mute the details on the bottom half of the machine spirit to make it look more like wispy tendrils (at least that is how I thought about approaching it), but I agree, as is it is too mechanical. - Charon is approx 55mm / 2 1/8" tall (90mm 3.5" with staff, ref here: http://arch01.forum.helldorado.fr/index.php?topic=3545), so that makes him a decent Ht 3 model that's not ridiculously large - the Astrakhan / smartmax one says it is 54mm in height not scale, so the same height as Charon I am assuming - the forgeworld Mournguy is supposed to be 5.5" tall so a bit tall for my box, but I was thinking of attaching him to the base by the torso, trying to get rid of the dead horse and then get creative with the arms - the more I look at them, the less I'm feling the other Hell Dorado ones or the bushido one - I did find a different hell dorado one https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/hell-dorado-etruscilla.html, I think it is going to be small though, the fluff calls it monsterous but the pricetage puts it in the rank and file range - I got poking around on their forums and I think the dark age storm elemental is going to be too tall. It is pictured on a 50mm base. However, they also have these, but I'm not sure how big they are... https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-squalls-3.html https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-clear-resin-zephyrs-3.html https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/dragyri-hailkins-clear-blue-resin-version-3.html
SpiralngCadavr
Yeah, another vote for the clear one. A lot of those don't feel like quite the right theme, or way too spectacular for a totem. The FW mini could make a pretty spectacular Nothing Beast, though. brib4169
Joel - did the horse on the Mourngul come pre-attached to the hand or could it be easily taken off? bjorkgnu - I was thinking interference purple or green but yes, light drybrush then a cool base, there are also non-clear versions on their website if you want to see the details better
Joel
The horse is attached to the left hand of the mourngul - which attaches at the wrist to the rest of the model. Would need some considerable time cutting through resin to remove that part of the horse (horse also in 3 pieces) but could be done without harm to the hand.
