Redhammer Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Well, I've been working on these guys for a couple weeks now, and though they aren't done, they're at least presentable now. As such, I decided to upload my miniatures and get some feedback on them. As you may have guessed from the title, I have painted up a Dreamer crew (up to 35 SS is done so far, though I have up to 45 or so). My goal is to get the Orphanage base inserts for this crew, and as I attach them to their finished bases to touch up any areas that need it on my guys. I apologize in advance for the poor photo quality, as the stormy weather isn't providing the best light right now, and I have yet to set up a well-lit photo station. Well, let's start it off with a shot of the whole crew: I'm pretty proud of these guys, and the only one that I feel needs a good bit of work still is the Dreamer himself. This is my complete crew plus an Alp for summoning purposes. Next up is going to be a gallery of my personal favorites, starting with a close up on the twins: Before I painted up these two, I though Lilitu was by far the superior model, but now that they're painted I actually like Lelu better. I added a chain to him to give his pose a bit more justification, as he looked like he was breaking through something to me. Next up, everyone's favorite eye-eater, Coppelius: He really suffered from the poor lighting, but I think the general idea gets across still. I love this model. And lastly, but certainly not least, the one and only: Lord Chompy Bits Inspiration for this guy came from the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth and the younger Toguro brother from Yu Yu Hakusho. I like the way he turned out, though these pictures doesn't show his drool effects too well. Also, the poor lighting makes the teeth blend into his skin a bit more than they do in reality... I'll try to take some better pictures and post them soon. Well, let me know what you all think! Comments and criticism is welcome. They're going to be having their first game tonight! Quote
Chris Tomlin Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 They look good. Without being based they do look a bit unfinished, so it'll be nice to see them when complete. The only thing I'd suggest to improve at the moment is to maybe use some washes to create some definition and break up the flat areas. Chris Quote
Redhammer Posted January 29, 2013 Author Report Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) I actually used a lot of washes on most of the models, so I wonder if that's poor lighting or if I just need to do a few more. The Dreamer himself and the Alp are the only ones that still needed to be washed, however, and will certainly need some. Then again, normally I tend to overuse washes, so I think perhaps I overcompensated and didn't use enough this time. I'll give them all a bit of a look over and get to making their bases. EDIT: Just went through and gave most of them more washing. They look much better. Thanks for the advice! Lord Chompy Bits in particular looks a bit better, so I'm happy with the changes. Hopefully I can post pictures of the update soon. Edited January 29, 2013 by Redhammer Quote
