Synergy of arcane effigy with collete

I recently picked up the acrane effigy and I was looking over his very versatile skill set and I thought it would go extremely well with Colette. Arcane reservior and the +1 ap used for casting, when she can swap in and use a magicians duel swap out or even a second magicians duel. Not to mention all of the other cool abilities that come with the effigy. I realize that you can't have doves on the board with the effigy but after it dies you can summon them out. What are everyone's opinions on this synergy, or possibly lack of synergy? Thank you for your thoughts!

I never played collette, but I like her mechanics... And I think doves are much more important to her than +1 cast ap and a card (for a 4ss price).

Guardian is right... in most situations you want the doves. Sadly, the effigies keep you from attaching totems, so you can't summon them in either. There might be potential if you build a non-standard, low-showgirl list, I've never tried it.

I was about to suggest "attaching" the effigy to a henchman, but checked the rules for it first and it requires you to nominate a leader, so it won't work.

In a brawl though, you could attach the effigy to the other master beside Collette if you wanted to.

Another point: for the cost of the effigy, you can hire 2 doves. That gives you an extra activation over the effigy, and practically one more opportunity to cast magicians duel, with superior speed and two additional attack vectors. (Ca4 is obviously weaker, but you can burn SS anyways.)

In about 99% circumstances I would rather doves. As in your example I can have moved a dove in and magicians dueled the model, rather than spent an activation of Colette doing the same.

The effigy does look good for colette, but I don't think it replaces what it costs. I think it probably has a similar problem with all the other Arcanists as the totems they have access to generally really help their force (or in the case of Mei, the special forces models).

I havent fully tried it yet, and everyone has a different play style. So give it a go, and see how it works for you.

Unless you give that doll lips and a pretty dress to be a tiny stitched showgirl, I don't think I can ever see using it.
