Mr. Bigglesworth Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 No details just vote based on name. I'm sure it is obvious. This a fixed master 55 pool crew I'm making for an upcoming event. Quote
Mach_5 Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 Tough choice! Raspy's one of my favourites though so have to vote Fire and Ice. If the second option is Mei & Kaeris though...... Quote
Mr. Bigglesworth Posted January 20, 2013 Author Report Posted January 20, 2013 Fire and ice is obvious. But workers could be a lot 2-3 compositions. I will probably create a second pool to help with that. I think though I'm committed to a book one master or henchman only. You decide yet? Stay with Nico or switch to raspy? That 5 extra hasn't made my decision easier. Quote
Mach_5 Posted January 20, 2013 Report Posted January 20, 2013 I still can't decide. At the moment I'm leaning toward Raspy as its a much nicer looking crew (I rushed and dipped a lot of my Nicodem crew). I'm not even sure single-master without a pool would make the choice easier. I just hate leaving models at home simply because they don't fit in the pool. Quote
Usiel Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 Been itching to try out a labor crew myself, so I want to see what you put together for it... Quote
Mr. Bigglesworth Posted January 21, 2013 Author Report Posted January 21, 2013 It's a fun event so won't be anything uber competitive. I want to run more a theme list than a tourney list. Quote
Rathnard Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 I'm kind of doing an M&SU crew myself. Book 4 really filled out the M&SU options so there seems to be alot of potential (and alot of synergy) in going for a crew with Kang, Johan, Miners and/or Rail Workers. They feel more characterful to me than a Raspy Fire & Ice crew, so that was what I voted. Quote

Rathnard Posted January 21, 2013 Report Posted January 21, 2013 I've found M&SU stuff has a lot of synergy to itself, but not to any master (or henchman). It's very true. Mei seems like a decent option at first, but she needs constucts, which means you're commiting to taking either Rail workers or diluting your M&SU member numbers. Raspy can give Armour and/or Frozen Heart and Ramos is an M&SU member, but other than that they don't offer anything particularly special either. Marcus does nothing for M&SU, but on the plus side he doesn't need anything beyond maybe a Jackalope and Mx Raptor function well. On a similar note, Avatar Ramos could also function independently, but needs a much higher investment (toolkit, Avatar, Soulstones IIRC) to do his thing. That leaves Kaeris, who can steal their wounds from the M&SU to heal herself and block LoS with her Fire markers. Not bad I suppose. It'd be nice to see a Master/Henchman who offers some more direct synergy with M&SU models but then again, is it really needed? If your Master functions well on his own and your Minions function well with each other, is that really a problem? Quote
Mr. Bigglesworth Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 Rathard lays it out well. I'm not going to take Mei as I committed to take a book 1 master. So it would be Ramos if I don't just take Kaeris. Fluff wise to me Ramos is the leader of the revolution from outside view point. Kaeris is the thug. Quote
geistwald Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Kaeris encourages - or rather forces - you to spend more SS on minions, and the M&SU thing requires as many bodies as you can muster. PS: Ramos doesn't lead any revolution, he is Al Capone with an engineer's degree Quote
Mr. Bigglesworth Posted January 25, 2013 Author Report Posted January 25, 2013 Alright now that I know it is Workers what should the 55 pool look like? Looking for ideas? This is a fun tourney, with games ranging from 25-45 so how should my single master 55 pool look like? Quote
geistwald Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 How about that: Kaeris ------ - Renegade Steamfitter Johan (6SS) - Union Miner (4SS) - Union Miner (4SS) - Union Miner (4SS) - Large Steampunk Arachnid (5SS) - Gunsmith (6SS) - Willie (6SS) ------ that's 35 stones, then you can go for 55 with: - Soulstone Miner (6SS) - Rail Golem (9SS) - Rail Worker or another LSA (5SS) Quote
