WarmasterOJB Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 For a longer time my main game is now Malifaux. At the moment I also play Freeboters Fate and Flames of War, but hobby time got rare with the birth of my daughter. So I needed a gaming table to store at home and to be flexible. I can't always make it in our club room to play. I need playing space for 120 x 120 cm (48" x 48"), 90 x 90 cm (36" x 36") and i need the possibility for 120 x 180 cm (48" x 72"). Storing the table if used at home on the dining table is also important. After month of planing this is the plan I came up with. For the first step I would just build one of each module and two Malifaux Inlays. In the next step I will add an other big module and two inlays which will give me all playing sices I need once and Malfaux 2 times. (In the plans is a lot of German writing. if i find the time i will do an international plan ) And this is is what I bought for the first step in my locale do-it-yourself store. I did go there a second time. At the end it was sligthly over 100€ for the 3 Modules and the 2 inlays. This as preview and intro. I will post some pictures while building it the next days. Quote
WarmasterOJB Posted January 13, 2013 Author Report Posted January 13, 2013 Her so you can see more what it looks like some pictures off the building phase. The inlays for Malifaux with places for the deck, SS and the statcards. and the middle and big base board. The Baseboard is build of OSB. The runway at the side is build of pine board on top (the inlays are also build by pine board) and pine beams at the inners side and smal spars at the pouter side. So you could also lay some stuff in there. Quote
ttsgosadow Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 I like these kind of blogs. Looking forward to see your progress! Quote
WarmasterOJB Posted January 23, 2013 Author Report Posted January 23, 2013 Ok here are some new pictures to show you how this table works. This is the table in the size 48x48. The big and the small part. The Table in Malifaux size (big and small element+ Malifaux Inlays) With wood lacquer and nearly ready to play Quote
Sheijtan Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 Nice job! Hope to play on the table if I will be able to manage it to go to Saarbrücken some time in the future! How do you protect your dinner table from scratching by the gaming table? Quote
96p Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 Yor welcome to join one of our upcoming tournaments Sheijtan http://www.tabletopturniere.de/t3_tournament.php?tid=10078 http://www.tabletopturniere.de/t3_tournament.php?tid=10065 Quote
Darios Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 he certainly will. I#ll see to that Nice table Jens! Quote
DeusInnomen Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 Hmm! This is looking good so far. I think I'll follow this and steal some well thought out ideas. (As a Malifaux player who also wants to get back into Hordes, a convertable table is exactly what I need.) Quote
96p Posted January 24, 2013 Report Posted January 24, 2013 he certainly will. I#ll see to that Nice table Jens! Jens is one of the Names that just sounds weird in an english sentence xD Quote
WarmasterOJB Posted January 24, 2013 Author Report Posted January 24, 2013 @ Sheijtan As 96p said come and join us at our tournaments. For protection of the table I put felt under the table. Those you glue under the chairs to protect the floor. @ DeusInnomen The Wama/Ho players in our club are also happy about the bigger size of the table. @all This weekend I will stat building the first extension to get the perfect gaming table set. 2 pics with the first Terrain inside. Onc eSome Buildings just on the blank wood... some snow board just with a white sheet and the terrain we already have. p96 builded the first inlay in desert style to match the terrain we already have in the club. Quick work with a great outcome. Quote
WarmasterOJB Posted January 26, 2013 Author Report Posted January 26, 2013 Thank you. I will try to do an excact plan when building the next part. The next non modular insert will be ready soon I guess. The extended table may take until the SaarCon tournament in march. Quote
Viruk Posted January 26, 2013 Report Posted January 26, 2013 Very impressibe, love the way you've created space for cards and tokens, that will definitely make gaming more enjoyable. Quote
Lord Shaper Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 I'm loving what you've done with the table... I have been thinking about making some modular tables myself and having inlays is something I might have to pinch! Quote
jasonfly Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Great work! Reminds me that having a Malifaux-sized table would be nice, rather than having to fight for turf with the 40k/fantasy players... Might have to steal one or two of your ideas! Quote
Guild Monkee Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Really nice table, think I might have to pilfer some ideas too Quote
WarmasterOJB Posted January 29, 2013 Author Report Posted January 29, 2013 Thank you. I hope I gave some useful inspiration and ideas. Quote
