I sat out the games yesterday to officiate and take notes. Envy, with his new Rasputina set, faced off against Tuesday and the Showgirls' biggest hitters.

Initiative: Showgirls

The Coryphee immediately Duet it up, and barrel over to the large throne to score the free 2 points Arcanists get for Sabotage, while Rasputina's crew begins their long, slow march towards the Claim marker (represented by an Insidious Madness). After Cassandra moves up towards the Cult of December's forces and swaps places with Cory D, Rasputina retaliates by blasting the lady constructs with an Ice Mirrored, soulstone infused December's Curse that triggers Overpower. Envy cheats in a low mask, a gamble that backfires when the soulstone spent to juice the spell doesn't even produce enough for a successful cast. Giving it another shot, Envy flips the Black Joker, sighs, and scoops up his two cards. Rasputina finishes her activation by throwing out some Ice Pillars, hoping to stall the swift showgirls. Colette makes a Dove, and uses her legs like a sucker to head toward where the action is.

Turn 2

Initiative: Cult of December

Envy trades tempo to boost Rasputina's action pool with the Arcane Effigy. Tuesday responds by sending her Coryphee Duet after a wayward Gamin. This winds up with mixed results, with the Duet flipping the Red Joker and killing the Gamin in one blow, but also getting shut down by the Gamin's Sub Zero trigger. Shatter catches the Duet, the two remaining Ice Gamin, and the Ice Golem. Envy's response is to have another Gamin activate Bite of Winter. Tuesday uses this opportunity to have Cassandra swap with the Duet, and gives herself some protection with Southern Charm. Rasputina shuts out the showgirls with a second set of Ice Pillars, and marches along towards the Claim marker, Cult in tow. Colette spends the turn making a dove and a soulstone.

Turn 3

Initiative: Cult of December

Envy again starts the turn with Arcane Effigy advancing and using Conduct Aether on Rasputina. One of Colette's Mechanical Doves soars over the ice pillars to Magician's Duel an Ice Gamin, killing it and getting shut down by Sub Zero in the process. Shatter catches the Dove, the remaining Gamin and the Ice Golem. The final Gamin fires an Icy Blast at the Dove, who is saved by the Red Joker. Colette jogs up to the stone spire near Raspy's forces, and Rasputina responds by using Freeze Over on it. Then she uses December's Curse to finish off the Dove, catching Cassandra with a blast marker. Cassandra uses a soulstone to prevent some of the incoming damage, taking just two wounds. Rasputina closes by sealing off the backdoor to her crew with a third set of Ice Pillars. Cassandra tries to sword through an ice pillar. Failing that, she moves back and Breathe's Fire at the Ice Gamin, hitting it for 3 wounds. She ends with Southern Charm. The Ice Golem trundles toward the Claim, stopping to take a shot at Cassandra and miss. The second Mechanical Dove flies into the center of Rasputina's crew and explodes, hitting the Golem, but missing the Gamin and Rasputina. The Duet makes a healing flip and runs all the way across the board to make a Sword Dance strike against an ice pillar, destroying it. Colette, tongue still stuck to the stone spire, occupies herself during her second activation by making a soulstone.

Turn 4

Initiative: Showgirls

The Duet heals again, and zips off toward Rasputina, gracefully dodging the disengaging strike of the Ice Golem to Deliver a Message. The Ice Golem retaliates by ice pummeling Cory D for three Damage, and triggering Chills on it. Colette, having none of that, swaps with Cassandra and casts Disappearing Act on the Golem. Unsurprisingly, a soulstone nets Colette the three tomes she needs to trigger Mannequin Replacement, the bane of low defense, high cost models everywhere. The Gamin, in turn, manages to get past all of the Coryphee Duet's defenses and finish it off. The newly arrived Mannequin activates, Companions with Colette, and moves up to Link with her. Colette Discharges a Soulstone at the Gamin, killing it and getting herself two back for the trouble. Arcane Effigy Conducts Aether on Rasputina, and Cassandra heads back around to Colette and Southern Charms.

Rasputina makes a bold bid to end the master magician, casting December's Curse at the Mannequin, which is next to Colette. It hits, 1 wound on the Mannequin, 2 on Colette, and triggers Overpower. The second cast also hits, but just the Mannequin. Envy spends his last soulstone on the third cast, only to receive the Black Joker. It's still enough to kill the Mannequin, however. Colette spends a soulstone to prevent all incoming wounds. Rasputina then uses her third action to cast the Curse directly at Colette, who proves to be a more nimble opponent by dodging the spell. A final attempt at casting December's Curse fails. Colette, fearing for her life, swaps with Cassandra and moves away from the battle.

Turn 5

Initiative: Cult of December

Rasputina kills Cassandra with December's Curse, puts up another set of Ice Pillars. The Arcane Effigy makes it to the Claim. The game ends here.

Sounds good to me and we should try to get there early enough so Amor and Tuesday can have their match-up, Me and Cody can have ours and then switch. That way Cody and Tuesday can battle it out and me and Amor can as well.

Maybe. We saw how long these matches can go.

And besides, we both know you'll be late even if there's free food to be had.
