I am sure I am not alone when writing my crew list I end up with 2 soulstones to spare. I have usually bought a totem already so it leaves me wondering whether to take a Desperate Mercenary or put the 2ss in my pool? What do you think? underdog6750 Posted November 28, 2012 Report Share Posted November 28, 2012 All depends the crew you run i suppose? If you are running a stone hungry master like sonnia then the ss. If you are using a counter or summoning heavy master then the merc. I personally dont use the tactic of killing my minions for corpse counters etc but alot of people do. edonil Posted November 28, 2012 Report Share Posted November 28, 2012 Honestly, with a corpse summoner, the merc is more useful being used in the first couple turns, then instead of paying the SS you kill him the turn before. Personally, it really depends on strategy and what you're doing. They have some application as serious glass cannons, and can be entertaining if you use them that way. I always try and take a full cache wherever possible and I use the desperate mercs as filler. Where I have a choice of either losing 2SS or taking something like a witchling for 4SS and reducing the cache below maximum, instead I would take a merc instead of reducing my cache.
