35 SS Viktoria List

Hi,

I am quite new to Malifaux and started the Viktorias. Now I want quite an allround crew which mainly can go against everything that is out there (even though I don't know what is out there).

Here's, what I came up with, so far:

Viktoria's (5 SS Cache)

Jack Daw (9 SS)

Sue (7 SS)

Von Schill (9 SS)

Ronin (5 SS)

I would think about discarding one scheme to get the two extra SS during the game.

I have to explain, that I am quite a slow player with my Viktorias in respect of the hitting round, when their swords collide with the enemy. It tends to be the third round.

Here's my portfolio of miniatures I have so far:

Viktorias, 3 Ronin, Taelor, Bishop, Johan, Von Schill, Librarian, Jack Daw, Convict Gunslinger. Sue would be the next shop.

If you're looking to fight Pandora, you may want to consider Killjoy. With the +2 from Sue, that's 7wp. Pandora typically doesn't have much of a defense against melee, aside from a million WP duels. He's terrifying 13 with a 10" CG vs Pandy. He can heal every time he kills something (Which should be every turn)... Black blood, hard to wound 2, and Slow To Die... Killjoy really is a tactic. Mind you, this is all speculation and I could be thinking ridiculously. Just a thought, though... Pandora is one of the nastier Masters to face, though, if you're not WP out the yin yang.

It does depend on Strategies and Schemes, but I use my Viks aggressively with a large cache (6-8) and often use the Librarian to heal them. If the enemy advances then they are usually in melee on turn 2, but if they are playing defensively it might take a little longer.

Jack Daw might be a free VP but he is a huge points sink, and though he might help deny opponents points generally won't help you secure yours.

I have got good use out of Viks, VonSchill, Librarian, 2x Ronin, Student of Conflict and a cache of 6ss.

Von Schill with his high movement is too good at objective capping to drop unless the Strategy doesn't need it, but Taelor and Sue in place of Von Schill and the Student could make sense for something like Stake a Claim.

I would take

Viktorias + Avatar (2 SS) - (7 SS Cache)

VonSchill (9 SS)

Librarian (7 SS)

Ronin (5 SS)

Ronin (5 SS) OR a Frikorps Specialist (5 SS)

VonSchill works great at moveing the aViks around and u will have a bit of ranged support + some healing support and backup for the healer.

Outcasts Crew - 35 - Scrap

Viktoria -- 6 Pool

+ Viktorias, Avatars of Slaughter [2ss]

Student of Conflict [3ss]

Von Schill [9ss]

Freikorpmann [4ss]

Freikorpmann [4ss]

Freikorps Librarian [7ss]

This Crew will make Pandora have to use up her Stones/cards for basic Will Power Duels. In effect the Freikorp have a WP of 7 when defending against Pandora and the Librarian has Counter Spell. Your basic strategy with this crew is to kill Pandoras crew first THEN Pandora. Since the Viks have no Wk when they Avatar they wont be chased out of the board unless Pandora makes it to your lines turn one with 2 AP.

Try to use the Student for your Avatar Requirement by

1-Activating Gun Vik and casting Sisters of Battle: Fury

a-Walking to about 3 Inches in front of the Student of Conflict

2-Activating the Student of Conflict

a-Give Gun Vik Fast

3-Activating the Sword Vik

a-Use the Melee Expert to kill the Student (first Avatar requirement done, and you

draw a card)

b-Walk once Forward

c-use Sisters in Spirit to Place the Gun Vik in front of you.

Greetings and Salutations, Sheijtan.

While you've received some very good advice on how to maximize the Victorias and create a strong competitive list, it seems from your responses that you are pretty set on playing Jack Daw and Sue despite their less than optimal synergy within your crew.

While all of the advice on this thread is valid and quite helpful if you're looking to play competitively, there is nothing wrong with playing a list full of characters that you are drawn to.

You may not always win but I guarantee that you'll have a better time.

Thanks for the advices.

Although I am not set on playing the mentioned personell, I'd like to play them and I am actually looking for good combinations for the named models.

Of course, I will try a lot of games with any combinations, though I am not sure, how many Freikorps I will really integrate into my Crew.

@eatenbypotchky: That is -of course- a very good advice. And I am sure that I will have fun playing with my crew, but in the end some of the games would be nice if they are wins :).

Also, I now have a few crews I will play against since I found a small club nearby.

There will be Rasputina, Collodi and Pandora available. And maybe a few others in the future.

@DarcXON: Thanks for describing the manifest-requirements description. I was about to ask for that one, too. I saw it in a recent video-battle report, where aViks played against Nicodem.

I'm a big fan of the librarian. She can heal up both viks per spell, plus she gives you +1 to your control hand. You need to pitch a card when she activates or she becomes paralyzed, but the suit of the pitched card is added to her Ca for the turn. Plus you can heal up Sue is Sue decides to do her 1 action hurt for more cards.

Sue is a great model, but the downside is he cannot be taken in a crew that contains VonShill. Vonshill is a great minion to take, so it's a toss up.

With the Viks i'd recommend the biggest soulstone cache you can get. I like running with 8 stones if possible.

Student of Conflict totem is great for the Viks, giving one of them fast almost always seems to help alot. having a vik with 3 general action points plus melee expert gives you just so many options its great. Using one of those action points to sisters in spirit the other vik into place and them hitting hard with her is brutal.

The ronin are great in melee and decent with shooting, I personally prefer them over taking the basic freikorman.

Also I personally don't like jack daw with the viks, it doesnt seem to have much synergy with the crew. I'd prefer to spend those 9 soulstones on other things.

The other posters also have alot of good advice. Probably the best thing is to just play around with different lists until you find one you enjoy the most.
