Grantt
Thoughts on an all-rounder 35 soulstone list Sonnia avatar list; Sonnia Criid + Avatar - 2 soulstones Witchling handler - 7 soulstones Witchling Stalker 4 soulstones Witchling Stalker - 4 soulstones Fire Gamin - 4 soulstones Fire Gamin - 4 soulstones Then either; Nino -7 soulstones (ranged awesome) Or Judge - 7 soulstones (Vs undead) Or Guardian - 7 soulstones (objective holding) Or Executioner - 7 soulstones (melee awesome) Witchlings for synergy, Gamin for burning tokens, final spend depends on objective or opponent. Thoughts?
cerealkiller195
I would drop one of the witchling stalkers to get 2 desperate mercenaries since they will be turned to Witchlings eventually. As far as a 7 point option not too sure Nino is usually one of my staples and as he can trouble shoot must situations.

Turbodog
The Desperate Mercenary idea I find good for one Desperate Merc. I usually don't do 2. Also, in lists where you have a Witchling Handler, it's usually better to already have Witchlings out on the field immediately available - rather than waiting to come in from another source. Bottom line...I'd keep at least one of the existing Stalkers in your list and just change over one to a Desperate merc, netting +2 SS....if that. Nilus (I think) had a good post regarding using Desperate Mercs with Sonnia's Avatar. I believe he used the fact that turn 1 was almost always going to be her (0) Inferno - which will bring D. Mercs to exactly 1 wound at the end of the turn - priming them to become Stalkers the next turn. Of course an opponent wise to this can handily take down a Desperate Merc with just 1 Wd left if he or she is savvy to this plan and gets initiative. Come to think of it, I think he also used that same Inferno pulse to help "prime" Santiago to his rage state. Clousseau
The additional D.Merc can make a good target for a Flame Burst! I also tend to go for more Stalkers over a high point model - but it depends on the strategies being played. One of the joys of Guild is the flexibility. nix
Personally I am not a fan of the Executioner in lists that cannot move him quickly or protect him well (i.e. protect with a guardian). With that said, he can be a good model if you can hide him and your opponent is coming to you. I think your ideas for using Judge or Nino are really good. They should work well in your list. Personally I prefer 2 Desp. Mercs to 2 Stalkers, as I can reliably bring out a Stalker on turn 2, especially when going Avatar. Maybe swap 1 stalker out for 2 mercs, then you get 3 stalkers come turn 2.
cerealkiller195
Another point for the desperate merc is they are even better when you activate them to do 'for my family' and do the 1 wild fire action twice! They are going to turn to witchlings anyway might as well go for maximum impact.
Twisted Metal
Use for my family on the D Merc and then the Stalkers Dispel Magic to prevent the Sac at the end of the turn.
cerealkiller195
really good catch, my mercs barely live past 2nd turn but a very nasty trick for an opponent who is not expecting such a thing.

I would love to take credit for that post but I believe that was Nix who posted it. As others have said Desperate mercs can be good. Personally I have not found Fire Gaiman that great. Its 8 points you are investing in that will only pay off late game and only if ASonnia makes it out. I'd rather drop both of them and pick up Santiago so I can put out some damage
yes but no
Brutal effigy is worth considering in an aSonnia list as you are probably not playing with a totem anyway. A very solid 4 point model.
