soapy.sawfish
A friend and I started jotting down a few ideas for an RPG any advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated Introduction You have come to the island of Croux that lies off the shores of Malifaux. The island is full of secrets and ground so rich in Soulstones that it has the attention of multiple factions including the Freikorps and M&SU even Lucius the Governor’s Secretary has his eye on the land and what it can do for him. Soulstones run the island they can help you get stronger, buy spells, triggers and abilities, hire mercenaries and even bribe your way out of trouble. It’s true what they say there is safety in numbers the more you flesh out your crew the safer you are but on the flip side of the coin if you best watch your back because no one can truly be trusted. Broken people, criminals those escaping the past are welcomed. The boat arrives once every three months with new arrivals and new opportunities, but beware the law is strict to quell the criminal element before it evolves. A chance to become an enforcer of the law, a criminal presence, an entrepreneur or simply exploring the secrets of the land an harnessing it's power awaits those prepared to gamble it all in the weird west To start your adventure you must create a character to do so spend 28 points on your stats and they are Wk/Cg, Ht, Wp, Ca, Df everyone begins with max of 5 Wds The weapons to choose from at the beginning of the game are: Name Rg Cb Dg Mauser 9 8 6 1/2/3 Axe 1 5 2/3/4 Staff 2 5 2/2/4 Bull Terrier 6 5 1/3/4 Pistols 10 4 1/2/4 Daisho 2 5 2/3/4 Sword-Cane 1 5 2/3/4 Clockwork Derringer 8 4 1/3/4 Sewed-off Shotgun 7 5 1/3/4 Dagger 1 6 1/2/3 Crossbow 10 4 1/3/
Mbbelius
Like the look of it so far... Whats the system you intend on using?
edonil
Seems like an interesting starting point, that's for sure. Were you planning on using the Malifaux system, develop your own or work with something like DnD?
soapy.sawfish
We have been trying the Malifaux system but with the dungeon master controlling the fate deck (which we have been using between 3 and 4) the amount of fate cards you get dealt per turn is 2 with a mandatory discard of 1 card from your hand. Doing quests for parties gains you soul stones which you can use for the normal uses during battle but you can also use them to buy new spells, abilities, triggers, and weapons. NinjaBreadMen
Would you be using a system similar to a lot of computer games (WoW, Borderlands, Torchlight) where you get trees that your points go into, so characters specialise as melee, ranged, magic... I think it would help prevent masters getting unfair combonations of spells/triggers/actions which would let them break the game. Just a thought! It's definatly interesting to hear how it goes!
