johntoenjes Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 So I'm thinking of picking up the Dreamer box and a few other models to start Neverborn with. Currently play Arcanists with Rasputina, but want to have a few options. So I want to pick up the Dreamer box, and a few other things, ending up with a 35ss group that looks like so: Dreamer/LCB (7ss cache) Daydream 2ss Alp 3ss Coppelius 9ss Stitched Together 5ss Stitched Together 5ss Teddy 9ss Or is it better to start with more than one Daydream (relatedly, do Daydreams count for the starting SS per nightmare?) I want to just get things I can use for awhile (such as daydreams and alps, where I can change around the numbers for different arrangements), I don't want to go all out. Thoughts/critiques welcome Quote
Requirement Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 It would probably be best to start out with a few Daydreams as at some point you will probably want to sacrifice one, maybe even more. I believe they do count towards the extra cache as they would be hired. Is there any reason you are taking one Alp? I find it easy to grab a Desp. Merc. and gain eye counters from him (at least two) which gets two Alps on the board quickly for less stones. With the Errata to them it's not really the best use of stones, in my opinion, to hire them anymore as the "Alp bomb" is off the table. Queue someone with better ideas! Quote
Ratty Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 You can't hire Desperate Mercs Requirement. He's not allowed to hire Mercs at all due to Master of Dreams. Alps are not awful, but I feel they need to be dropped in pairs so the enemy can't cheat their slow tests. Quote
Gentleman J Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I was checking the math on what might replace a Desperate Merc as a sacrificial lamb for Coppelius. Ironically, the perfect candidate is an Alp. 3SS cost, low Df. If you've got a crow first you can get two eyes in two attacks. Sorrows and Terror Tots might work, too. Quote
Ozz Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 never thought of farming eye counters for anything since the change to alps, but that may be a good thing to test out, having counters ready for free healing is always useful As for the list, it seems similar to one i run with on occasion (usually 3 daydreams and no alps, and 6 stones) and do relatively well with. johntoenjes Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 So since Alps can be generated from eye tokens, would it be better to still pick up a set of Alps but initially field another daydream instead? Quote
Ozz Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 In my opinion, yes, as they are rather ineffective on their own, as Ratty said, if yu have 2 of them close enough, then their effects are much harder to resist (no cheating ect) Quote
