E.T.A. Hoffman
So after finally succuming to the fact that everyone does this (or everyone that I play against, and most people I read about online) I've decided to take a desperate merc as a slaughterwagon. So i was looking at the way Coppelius gets counters, and it seems like with a desperate merc, you get gain possibly two counters a turn every turn he's alive. Using halucinations I could gobble up eyeballs and make alps, seeing how the only way i'd run them is by summoning them. But, that's a risky thing cause leaving a models out in the open is the oppposite thing you do with a dreamer crew. Since, I usually alpha him, usually to try and forstall the emergance of some avatar or what not, I cannot risk mroe than a turn of this. Has anyone tried this combo before? And have they ever been successful?
Ozz
Assuming you just mean hitting stuff for eye counters? I used to try it using lelu, and teddy before the errata to alps (regen and trigger only + lilitu's heal) and i could get between 2 - 6 (depending on hand and flips) counters from my actions for the first 2 turns then have a daydream bury everything and appear in turn 3, and hit stuff, healing whichever of the models i hit was worse off, or summon a 3rd alp, but i have to say without the dreamers method of moving the crew, it seems rather slow to me. E.T.A. Hoffman
Yeah, using a desperate merc means that I will need to kill em turn one probably. Get two eye counters and then he should be dead. That way I can load up my crew and get a move on. Using a lelu or teddy actually works better cause they can heal. But, my only issue is I don't like the concept of it. A merc to me, is like a capative. But, why would coppelious rip the eyes off lelu and why would lelu tolerate that? This is just how I tend to think about the game. I love this game for the story aspect so I tend to wanna play it that way. Still, you bring up an idea that I had not considered before. So next time I wind up at a tourny that is certainly not a bad idea.
Ozz
Lelu is as far as i understand, like a slave, and so the Lilitu would tell him to suck it up:P Sort of thing, if you found the right way to phrase it it could work easily, the harder one to justify in my example may be the teddy, but again i was using the dreamer and so could not take mercs:)
E.T.A. Hoffman
You can take Desp Mercs with Dreamer.
Stonedog-7
I know it's not the final word for what you can and can't take but the Crew Creator begs to differ and says that Dreamer cannot take mercs of any kind... and it's normally pretty accurate

Ozz
Aye, no mercs at all for Mr Dreamer child, which to be fair makes sense since he is not there to hire anyone, or pay them ect:P
