Hi all

I'm preparing for aNicodem and have started to formulate my zombie horde machine. I was reading the Rafkin entry on Pull My Finger and something surprised me:

"If you don't mind killing your own minions to gain body parts, Rafkin can quite easily kill a number of Canine Remains with a single attack of Formaldehyde (feel free to include Rafkin in the blast to give him a nice stock of 2 poison tokens), leaving one AP left for (1) Preserve Bodies. The poison will kill each dog when they activate, dropping a Corpse Counter. Leave one Canine Remains alive to pick up all the counters and then use "For you, Master", which discards the counters giving one Corpse Counter to the Master and one body part counter to Rafkin for each counter discarded."

Is this accurate? I was surpised that the canine remains passing Nico the corpse counters would generate bp's for Rafkin.

So if I had 5 canine remains and killed 4 of them, I could then:

1. Pass the 4 corpse counters from the canine remains to Nico via the remaining canine remains = 4 bp's to Rafkin

2. Cast arise with Nico and create 4 mindless zombies = 4 bp's to Rafkin

3. Sacrifice the 4 mindless zombies and summon a Rogue Necromancy = 4bp's to Rafkin

Next turn cast hasty disposal and create 6 mindless zombies from the 12 bp's.

Technically no, it doesn't work. The RM have not weighed in on whether Nicodem can use Arise on counters he carries, but according to the rules, as Arise is a pulse and Nicodem isn't affected by it, Counters he carries cannot be converted to Mindless Zombies via arise.

Yeah, unless Nicodem gets changed so Arise works on carried counters Rafkin can't get body parts from For You Master AND Arise, so you may as well kill off all the dogs and just use arise on the counters where they lay.

Whether Arise does or does not work on Nicodem is currently a matter of debate. The crux of the two sides being either:

1. Using Arise does not work on counters held by Nicodem because arise is a pulse and pulses expressly do not affect their "originator."

2. Using Arise does work on counters held by Nicodem because the corpse counters are a separate entity from Nicodem and -they- are not "originating" the pulse.

I'm in the latter camp for that reason and because I'm pretty sure intent is for any ability that requires you discard/sacrifice a counter allows for the range listed in the ability in addition to being able to utilize counters carried by the model (otherwise Reanimate, etc wouldn't work with it either since carried corpse counters are not in play and thus not within 6").

Also because I've never heard of it run that way ever before it cropped up on these forums about two-three months ago.
