NinjaBreadMen Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Ok, so I only had this idea yesterday, but having looked over Ophelia and her pals' stats it struck me that there's a small, but significant, similarity between her and Kirai: They both use wounds to better themselves in battle, and have massive healing options; they both have potential to move huge distances across the board; they both have a very tight synergy with their crews; and with the Pigapult they both have the potential to teleport things waaaAAAaaay across the board. What're you giving me that look for? It makes perfect sense... So that's now planted the seed to make an Ophelia crew, in the style of Kirai. The rules would stay exactly the same, as I want to be able to play with them legitematly, and as such I want to use the correct base models for each gremlin. The key things are that I want them to look like gremlins pretending to be Japanese ghosts (and yes there'll be at least one with a white sheet over him) keeping that hand-made, ramshackle style. Also, the compared miniatures don't need to play the same way, only look the same (you'll see waht I mean.) Now the thing is I've only ever played against Kirai, and I've not even seen a Gremlin in the flesh, so I can only make limited connections... but here's what I've got so far: Ophelia as Kirai: Replace her hat with a top-knot and give her a skirt. Working with the gremlin logic that the scary ghost lady uses giant scissors as weapons, a better piece of hardware to use (and I do mean hardware) would be a nailgun. Raphael as Shikome: He's the speediest gremlin, so he gets little wings on his back and a set of comedy breasts round his neck. Rami as Lost Love: Observing that the Lost Love's always there, but never actually fighting, Gremlin logic leads them to believe he must be some kind of sniper. So pop their sniper in blue clothes, give him a heart on a stick and he must become a brilliant sniper... just like Lost Love must be. Pere as Datsu-Ba: Spooky ghost with a Lantern makes things hurt... give a gremlin a lantern and he can make things hurt too! Better yet, give a gremlin a lantern that explodes and he can make a lot of things hurt. Plus a blindfold. Francois as Ikiryo: Really tall melee expert. Give Raphael a big oogly-boogly puppet on his hat, with big badass claws, to do the scaring, and he can hack away at his foes shins. That leaves Young Lacroix, Bayou Gremlins, Slop Haulers and perhaps the taxidermest (if only as an excuse to have 'sploding pigs running around with white sheets covering them) on the Gremlin Side. And Seishin, Onryo, Gaki, Insidious Madness (any others?) on Kirai's side. *I'm not overly familiar with book 3 yet, so I haven't thought about any of those models yet. Now from what I understand the general Gremlins flock around Ophelia (like seishin) the young Lacroix zoom off ahead and mess with your opponent on their own (like... um... onryo I guess...) and the slop haulers heal up everyone (nothing at all like Gaki or Madness, but I don't have no other options do I!?) What I wanted from you good people, was any suggestions for conversions (i.e. key points to include on gremlin copy-cats) or if you think any of my comparisons are way off the mark. Also, don't expect any breathtaking results here: I'm a poor-to-avarege sculpter but I have ambition! ^^ Oh and before anyone tries to talk me out of this hair-brained scheme: Too late ^^ NinjaBM Quote
Ozz Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 I unfortunately have no advice, as whilst i have both crews i have never got around to studying them or playing them yet. But when you have made and painted these, please post pics on forums , this idea sounds awesome to me! Quote
Omenbringer Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Pretty neat idea a Kirai inspired Gremlin crew (can hardly wait to see them). Reaper is going to be a great resources for your planned "enhancements". Quote
Dumb Luck Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Stuffed Piglets as Drowned? Egg Hauler as Madness? Quote
NinjaBreadMen Posted April 5, 2012 Author Report Posted April 5, 2012 Stuffed Piglets as Drowned? Egg Hauler as Madness? Oh hey! The man himself: I have gleened all of my knowledge of the Gremlins from listening to your Eathervox interview, so thanks for all the detailed info there! Sadly living in the UK I'm having to miss out on the egg-hauler this time Pretty neat idea a Kirai inspired Gremlin crew (can hardly wait to see them). Reaper is going to be a great resources for your planned "enhancements". Hehe, thanks! I've never been hugely fond of Reaper models, always found them a little static, but I'll give 'em a look in to avoid duplicate gremlins where possible. But when you have made and painted these, please post pics on forums , this idea sounds awesome to me! Thanks for the support! I'll be sure to post pics, I may even try to do it as a plog so anyone who's interested can see them one-by-one instead of just as a complete crew... Watch this space! Quote
Guild Monkee Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 I can't work out if you're nuts or a genius. I look forward to seeing the results either way! Quote
Omenbringer Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 Hehe, thanks! I've never been hugely fond of Reaper models, always found them a little static, but I'll give 'em a look in to avoid duplicate gremlins where possible. I have used a lot of the Reaper packs for exactly this purpose (just wait until you see my blinged out Avatar Some'r thats on the painting table). Quote
NinjaBreadMen Posted April 11, 2012 Author Report Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) If anyone's interested I've carried this idea over into a blog (ooh get me!) so I can ramble away and post pictures as the crew comes together. http://www.wyrd-games.net/entry.php?87-All-Kinds-of-Wrong-an-introduction Thanks for all the positive feedback!
