poisonfrog13 Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 As stated in the title i am painting the horrors box, and i am looking for a good paint recipe for undead flesh, i am currently going Deneb stone for a base , recess's hit with mix green wash , water , and badab black. highlighting with rotting flesh to white. i guess i am just looking for another way. Any and all help is very much appreciated. thanks in advance frog oi oi Quote
Omenbringer Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 Looking at your current process I might suggest GW Rotting Flesh over a Black Primer (doesn't have to be a solid coat) GW Leviathan Purple Wash (mainly in the recesses) GW Thraka Green Wash (over everything) GW Rotting Flesh (Highlight) That should give you a rather nice decaying undead look. Ratty Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I like starting with a normal mid skin tone, then washing in a mix of Ochre and Dark Green, then highlight up with progressing mixes of Skin tonnes and similar toned greys, starting with a mid tone and working up to a lighter shade. Then use a final wash of Sepia and Green Wash. Quote
Fetid Strumpet Posted April 1, 2012 Report Posted April 1, 2012 I painted my Molly this way: PP Frostbite base coat over black primer. Then a thin wash of GW Sepia wash. Then a thin wash of GW green. Then highlights with thinned GW Rotting Flesh, followed by thinned GW bleached bone highlights. Repeat the washes steps. Use thinned GW Sepia wash and just line the eye sockets, hollows of the face, and lips. Final highlights using Thinned GW Bleached Bone. Quote
greg1394 Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 I use black primer then bleached bone then a wash of thraka green then a wash of bal red that highlight with bleached bone It looks great and is quite easy to put on. Quote
shakes1066 Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 I add a little fortress grey to GW rotting flesh to give it a little more grey, apart from that a similar set up to Fetid Strumpet. Luke. Quote
G. Footman Posted April 2, 2012 Report Posted April 2, 2012 Most the belles I just drybrush rotting flesh over black primer, hit it with chestnut wash, then another lighter drybrush of rotting flesh, makes them look fairly rotting Molly though, I was trying to go with 'better preserved, but sickly ' complexion, so i tried black primer, base coat of rotting flesh, drybrush of elf flesh, and bone white hightlights. then I messed up attempting to paint her eyes and have to do it all over now... Omenbringer Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 Though it looks good in the picture better lighting would help. Quote
triplec Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 For undead flesh does anyone know how to get a toxic, radioactive, glowing green effect? Quote
Omenbringer Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) For a erie radioactive glow try: Prime White Base Coat of GW Rotting Flesh Glaze of GW Scorpion Green (1:3:3, Scorpion Green:Matte Medium:Glaze Medium) Wash of GW Thraka Green (1:2, Thraka Green: Flow Improver) *Turqoise Ink could work as well. Highlight again with GW Kommando Khaki This should give a nice green glowy type effect. Another option is to again prime white Base Coat GW Skull White Wash with GW Thraka Green (heavy in the recesses) Glaze with GW Scorpion Green (same ratio as above) Apply in thin coats and allow to dry completely between layers (a hair dryer can help a lot). Pierowmaniac Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 I just finished Molly myself fairly recently. I went for the greyish flesh tone. Started with a mid grey colour, washed green and then highlighted grey up a lighter grey mixing in a light fleshtone instead of white. Heres a photo from my blog. Quote
Omenbringer Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Pierowmaniac that is a pretty good effect on Molly, carre to share the recipe? Quote
Pierowmaniac Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Gladly But I will need to look through my paints again to see what I actually used, because im going through a transitional period (GW to Vallejo) and also not very good with remembering the names of the colours (I must start to make notes of these kind of things). Ill get back to you. Quote
