Just added another waif as I'm thinking for using my Levi cre for a brawl. Has tried thinning paint a little to avoid a texture look to the finished mini as suggested on previous posts. Any comments appreciated. Thanks

basing is really good~!

Your browns black and reds took really good~!

Great shading on the jacket~! I really like that.

What is your "recipe" for your red?

And of course.. "nippilage" is always a good thing~!....lol

I have delved back into painting after a long break. (lot's of warhammer previously)

Next time you try female skin tone, experiment with not adding the dark shading. I;ve recently noticed that when i do a skin tone, shade it, then highlight back to base tone, and highlight further, it gives a more masculine tone. So, ..deep shading seems to work with a more menacing tone.

Try base coating, ....and go straight to highlighting. The over all tone may be a bit more...... hhmmm.. lighter than what your used to? , .... but you may get a more feminie look.

also,...did you drybrush the white?

Cheers~!

The white would be the only area I would suggest improvements on. Start with more of a flat white and give a thinned wash of light black paint for the recesses and then highlight back up to white. You put a lot of effort into painting the rest of the mini, it's a shame to cut corners drybrushing one part.

Also, what primer are you using? A lot of your paint texture issues can be helped with a better thinner primer. I've done a lot of painting in my days (don't let my speed painting crew fool you :) ) and by far my favourite primer is walmart brand colorplace grey primer. It's thin, goes on smooth and i've never gotten the "dust" that you can get with other primers. Now it only comes in grey and they recently raised the price on it to $1.57 / can at my local shop...

Thanks for your replies. The mini was white undercoated using GW skull white primer then washed with black, I like the way this gives a gritty/grubby look to the final job and also gives me easy pointers on where to apply paint.

The red was GW red wash layered up, I think there were 3 coats, of course allowing it to dry between coats and then a very light dry brush with an off white.

Really like this model Sarge... Nice job in all (I quite like more real models) All I could suggest is the white being that little bit cleaner, another highlight / thinner wash?
