sarge Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 I've just started my Neverborn crew and got lucky with an e-bay purchase, getting most of the stuff I need all pre painted. But do need to bump it up a bit, so here's Baby Kade. Let me know what you think, as always I'm looking to improve my stuff Quote
SpiralngCadavr Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 The photography makes this a little hard to see: this is just with auto-levels and auto-color balance: It looks like you've got clean painting and some shading (possibly an ink?), and I like the base, most of the color choices, and the blood. One issue is the texture, and that might be because the image is blown up, or it might be because of a flash or it just needs a matte varnish to dull it down, but I think it's because the paint is too thick. Esp. if using GW paint, you should water it down a little. The only choice I'd point out is the eyes. They're too dull/close to the same color as the surrounding area (compare to the teddy's eyes or the letters on the blocks, which immediately draw the eye). You could fix this with a brighter color, or possibly with inking or otherwise getting a ring around the eyes to delineate the space. I'm looking forward to seeing more! Quote
sarge Posted March 27, 2012 Author Report Posted March 27, 2012 Thanks for your reply, appreciate constructive input. I have altered the eyes and think they now look much better, and can see what you mean. I do use mainly vallejo/game colour acrylics witg GW washes, but the base for the skin on Kade was GW dehneb stone then ogryn flesh wash and highlights with bleached bone. Will make an effort to thin paint on my palette a little more to reduce the texture I have got on this model. Photo taken before matt varnish and using my phone, so not the best photo quality I guess. Thanks Quote
Soundwave Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 Great improvement! Kiddo looks real wack..in the good, psychotic sense. Quote
LonelyPath Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 Nice work all round there, also I really like the building blocks on the base XD Quote
SpiralngCadavr Posted March 27, 2012 Report Posted March 27, 2012 Definitely in improvement on both photo quality and painting! I'm glad I could help :1_Happy_Puppet2: Quote
