Absolution Black Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Ok, been a while since I built anything...and have never worked with resin before so.... What glue would be best for these combinations? I'm thinking superglue for all, but may be wrong. Metal Mini to Resin base Resin mini to resin base Plastic mini (a la GW) to resin base. cheers for any help, suggestions on glue etc! Quote
Demonn Agram Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 For all my projects I use Cyanoacrylate glue (namely, Loctite Super Attack). So, I glue everything with it (plastics, metals, resins...) although when glueing resins to other materials (and resins) I use GF9 Rapid Cure for it to cure faster... oh and yes, for making bases I use PVA glue (glueing sand, rubble to the base; static grass and other flockings to the painted bases...) dsmiles Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I used to use that Loctite stuff, but found that if you get even just a little too much, it turns white. I switched to Gorilla Glue brand super glue. For metal to metal, I generally use regular Gorilla Glue, since it's amazingly strong, and a good gap filler (since it expands, but can be smoothed easily with a hobby knife). Quote
Absolution Black Posted March 20, 2012 Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 Any UK stockists of Gorilla glue? ..looks good! Quote
Malandres Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I use...Jot products superglue...it's cheap but I found it bonds the best and strongest for me Quote
DireTrollJake Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I'll never use anything but Gorilla again. Quote
CRC Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 I use a metal epoxy from the automotive section of my local hardware store. It's essentially just regular epoxy with iron dust in it. The stuff is very strong and takes filing/drilling/cutting well. For plastics I use a toluene based plastic glue. For styrenes (mostly plasticard) I use Loctite superglue. For Malifaux minis, so little assembly is required that I don't balk at the time to pin and epoxy every join. Quote
