BillyGoat
I got a chance to put some quality time into the hobby the past few days. Finally got around to painting my Skaven Warlord from GamesDay 2011: Also, I've been working on a piece of terrain for Malifaux. Kind of a Saloon or something with a bar on the main floor and two rooms on the top floor. I had a bunch of popsicle sticks laying around so I decided to use them as my main material. Here's the underside of the floor Popsicle sticks are a pain to work with since half of them are warped in some way, but I like the size. Here's a wall with some of the stairs framework I decided to use stain on the wood to make it more natural Got the first floor walls glued together, bar and stairs need to be stained still
BillyGoat
Decided to cheat and use some 1/8 baltic birch plywood as my second floor base. Much easier to work with, especially with a band saw Three of the upstairs walls stained and glued on, plus the stairs guardrail All exterior walls in place, here's a shot with some Guild to see the scale Downstairs Had to include burgundy Guild carpeting! Tomorrow I'll be putting interior walls upstairs to make two hotel rooms. I'm not sure about a roof yet. What else could be put in this thing to give it some more character? I'ts pretty plain as it is now. Lastly, I made some objective markers from a strip of mahogany. I used a wood burner and traced the images onto the markers. I still need to figure out what I should burn into the counters for evidence markers Edited February 22, 2012 by BillyGoat
Nathan Caroland
Very nice, particularly like the idea of using wood stain.
BillyGoat
Did some more work on the building: I found a few patterns that are mostly used for website backgrounds and printed them out to use as wallpaper for the rooms. I also found some western landscape paintings and scaled them down, put a frame around them in photoshop, and pasted them on the walls. Not sure who's brains those are on the wall yet because the building has yet to see a game. I still need some more detail on the ground floor, stuff for the hotel rooms, and a roof to finish this thing off. Do people play with interactable doors much? I wasn't sure so I put them on anyways.
