ravenborne
To make sure I understand this... if I were playing in a game a declared my faction as say, rezzers, I could actually take Von Schill as a merc leader and pay the merc cost for the rest of the crew, correct? 0 Lucidicide
I don't think so because you don't hire your leader, and therefore you can't take him as a mercenary, as that rule only applies to hiring. Regardless, I'm not sure why you'd do that, as I don't see what benefit it would provide...
0 ravenborne
We have a faction league going with achievements, and you get points every time you play a new Leader, so someone did it.
0 Lucidicide
Ah, OK. Well, like I said, I don't know anything that says you can take a Leader from out of faction. You can hire out of faction with certain rules (i.e. Mercs), but leaders aren't hired. That's my understanding.
0 Ozz
No book to check on ATM but I would agree with Lucidicide on this, it is your leader who does the hiring hence you have to pick a leader for hiring purposes in a brawl as I understand it:)
0 Ratty
OK the way it works is this.. You choose your faction.Your first Master must be from that faction.Your Second Master in a brawl must either be from your faction (As long as your first Master does not prevent the hire, Eg If your playing Outcast and your first Master is Leviticus then you can't hire Viktoria)or a model hirable by your First Master (Eg If your playing Outcast and your first Master is Leviticus he allows you to hire Ramos). (Eg If your playing Outcast and your first Master is Leveticus he allows you to hire Ramos - And if you're playing Guild with your first Master being Sonnia you can't hire Leveticus as your second, despite him being a Mercenary.). Fixed that for you. Otherwise almost any Master would be able to take Leveticus as their secondary Master, which I believe is not the case, right? 0 Kadeton
I would say that for any crew-building questions, your best bet is almost always to try it in the Crew Creator first. If it doesn't work, there's usually a reason (though it's not infallible, do check if you're convinced something's broken).

Since we're on the topic, I've always had a question: Can Ramos hire Hoffman; or does Hoffman have to be your first master, in this case? 0 Ratty
Ramos has no way of hiring Guild Constructs built into him. Some Guild Constructs have a special ability that allows them to be hired.
0 dsmiles
But he can hire M&SU Members, can't he? (pardon me if I'm wrong, I'm at the office, and away from my cards) Or does that only apply to Special Forces [M&SU Assets]?

(pardon me if I'm wrong, I'm at the office, and away from my cards) Or does that only apply to Special Forces [M&SU Assets]? You're thinking of Colette now. Edit: Ramos' rule concerning the Assets is that he doesn't need Kaeris in order to take more than two of them.
0 dsmiles
So...Colette can hire Hoffman as a second master? Interesting. That gives me an actual reason to buy Colette's crew (other than the pretty models, that is).
0 Haytu2
Why wouldn't I be able to hire Leveticus as my second master in a brawl if I was running Perdita as my 1st?
0 Scurry
because crews containing levi can only hire undead, construct and solus, which perdita is none of. levi can only brawl with hoffman, ramos and hamelin
0 nilus
Why wouldn't I be able to hire Leveticus as my second master in a brawl if I was running Perdita as my 1st? Because he is not hirable by Perdita. Remember Outcast does not equal Mercenary. He also has several restrictions on the types of models he can play with as well on top of that.
